i dont know if this topic has been raised on here before,

but who is the best player you've actually seen live at the game? everyones seen footage of pele,maradonna and the likes,therefore its easy to name them as the best you've ever seen,but in truth the most people have actually have seen of these players is edited highlights.

as most on here,the players ive had the pleasure of seeing live are pretty much confined to bolton games,scatterd with various england games. the one player that sticks out for me is ruud gullitt,he played with complete controll and composure and stuck out from everyone else on the pitch every time i saw him.

H e only played like that coz he was so p!ssed off and fuming with the ref for not giving him a penalty when Jimminho Phillips nearly snapped him him 3 in the box!! How we laughed and cheered when he started his paddy, and then cried as he ripped us apart for the millienth time in the game!!

if you go into bolton eveing new office on Churchgate they sell a video called Bygone Times in Bolton... as well as showing us bolton over the past century it also shows Brazil and Pele training in bolton also played a warm up game... there is actual video evidence... i didnt even want to watch it but my gran insisted that i see how harsh life was when she was younger... but wahey i learnt something!!!

About 20 years ago I heard a tale about the Brazilians training at Bromwich Street in '66 although I don't know whether it is true or an urban myth.

 

It seems they played the Wanderers first team in a practice match there. A few Wanderers fans got to see the game and came away raving about a new young winger that played for Bolton that day and had an absolute blinder.

 

It turned out that Bolton were a man short before the game and the Brazilians loaned them Toastao for the game.

I've often thought about the best player I have seen but can't make my mind up. Gullit was good as was Carlos Valderama and Gazza but I think Dalglish gets my vote... he was pure class.

never been the same since, had a good spell in his 2nd season then went aficans nations never been his best since.

 

still worth a place in the team though.
