Alan Shearer

Sad end to his career. I know there's not many on here like him - but I always thought he was a great striker and front man.

Well done Alan on a great career!

Once met him in a large hotel outside Blackburn. Newcastle had played at Blackburn that day and he was staying over.

Loads of people asked for autographs/photos with him and none went away without their request fulfilled.

I was outside the players entrance last night before the game and THREE of my own team's players even acknowledged the supporters! There were about a dozen japanese supporters (Inamoto fans) who were calling for Nakata in his own tongue and he didn't even look at them!

I'm sorry but I, and many others, allow them to live the lifestyle they currently enjoy. I'm not saying they should have come into the crowd signing autographs and stuff but at least a little wave so the fans know they are appreciated.

How many times have we called our own players on here about running down the tunnel at the end of the game instead of going applauding the supporters?

Who is the c??nt?

Yeah, sad way to end his playing days if he is forced out through injury. Good old fashioned striker not scared of getting hurt or dishing it out. Does like a good old moan mind......

in his prime the best english centre forward i have ever seen.

also reffed the game well.

would nt want to spend xmas with him ,but bet he does nt give a fcuk what i think. :D

Sad end to his career.

Some would say - what a better way to go!

Scoring in your teams stuffing of your local rivals on their own ground =D>

Best striker I have seen and as mentioned he will always go out of his way to speak to you, even when taking the p??ss out of him :-$

When in Austria we were in the same hotel as the England team and only 2 players came into the bar area and had time for us and that was Beckham and Lampard. Some kid was in the hotel with a Villa top on and Vassell walked by and he screamed his name out, but Vassell ignored him and walked on by.

Gary Neville doesn't like being called a munich inbred c??nt BTW and Michael Owen exits elevators when others enter even though he is on the wrong floor

can't stand the b'stard

and if it's ended on a stretcher, so be it

Alan Shearer is a tosser! All he ever did on the pitch was try and get other people booked and constantly badger the referee! Glad he's finished his career on a stretcher! =D> =D>

if england had a fit young alan shearer now to play upfront with rooney we would have a real chance of winning the world cup.

Very harsh that Casino.

If you can't appreciate his style of play and the success he has had in a great career then at least applaud him for sticking the V's up at Fergie not once but twice when he told United to fcuk off before his moves to The Dingles and Newcastle =D>

Some people may not like him but you have to agree 10 years ago he was a fantastic goalscorer.

Scored 112 goals in 138 league games for Blackburn stands scrutiny against the very best.

And that was in an otherwise mediocre Blackburn team.

So the 400+ goals are just a figment of my imagination? (and the 30 for England)

aye, i didn't appreciate his 'style'

not been that succesful either, for the best english striker of his generation

could be argued he wouldn't sign for ferguson, as he would have had to toe the line

always liked things his own way, has mr shearer

btw, does anybody know how he ended up at southampton

long way from home for a wonderkid

No, but that is how I will remember him! You remember him how you like!

fair play to him for not wanting to sign for the red scum, but given his trophy haul i reckon fergie had the last laugh there

Cant stand the c??nt personally

He'll hobble on for 2 minutes at the end of the last match at St James'

for the ovation!!

Erm no we would not! This guy has got to be the most over lauded footballer ever!

His England performances often bordered on shocking with the team suffering through having to accomodate his one trick style. I remember Beckham quite rightfully having a go as yet one more blinding cross went begging without an attempt by Shearer.

All I used to hear from his admirers was he lacked "the right sort of service" FFS!

He himself knew he was not good enough hence his retirement in 2000 from international football.

Did any big Italian or Spanish giant offer millions for his services? did he ever do it in Europe for Newcastle or Blackburn?

I'll remember him for fouling the keeper in the England v Argie game in thwe WC 98 as Sol Campbell scored what would probably have been a winner in Extra time.

Then again I could reminise about the time he kicked Neil Lennon in the head whilst Lennon was on the floor that same year in probably the worst act of intentional savagry I have ever seen on the football field. As the FA prepared to take action based on video evidence old Mary tells em that if they do he will not play for England in the world cup, result? he gets off free and the incident is never shown on TV again.

Good yes! in the Premier but world class? never proved it!

Reminds me of a French National team manager's quote about Cantona - "a big player...in small games"

just been on f365 and they've got poll going

who is better:-

Shearer?

Cantona?

Henry?

I'd say Terry Henry myself!
