Guimaraes- i get the impression this was the trip, and would like to be able to compare with Plovdiv

 

Grimsby home circa 20/02/01- my little girl was a couple of days old, and i really wanted to take her... either way i didnt want to be away from her

 

and finally when we d#cked blackburn 4-3 after being 3-1 down... the only one i'vemissed in years

Hull.

 

If a time machine is invented in my lifetime, that's one of my first stops. Obviously my priority in such an event would be to travel back to just before the Ipswich play-off and crumble shards of glass down Barry Knight's throat.

 

But missing Hull is a big regret and is a reason why I intend never again in my life to not have enough money to watch Bolton anywhere.

Liverpool away Cup (lived in London at the time and it was me last day at work piss up); Hull (lived in Southampton at the time and knew I'd be travelling up for the Preston game); Wrexham (in London and skint).

All the above would have been tough for the reasons given, but I really regret not doing the old Den. I had the chance as we played there twice while I lived in London. Mind you, had I done done it I might have regretted it

The league and cup games with Spurs in the promotion season of 78. I vaguely recall the league gamewas on Match of the Day so it might appear on DVD one day.

I went to the FA cup giant killings at Liverpool and Arsenal etc. I went to Wrexham for the promotion game, I have been to every Bolton match at Old Trafford in my lifetime from the 70s onwards, I was at Hull on that friday night, I have attended every Wembley and Millenium matches in my lifetime including Torquay,Watford and I run 52-seater coaches/minibuses to the Liverpool '95 Wembley, Villa etc. I am a 100%er in the Uefa Cup home and Away. I went to all the pre-season friendlies in Scotland(at Dundee, St Johnstone, Dunfermline etc.)

1989 was the year my Grandma died(who I loved dearly). That season I went to every match home and Away including all the pre-season friendlies (Atherton LR etc.) I attended her funeral the drove down to Craven Cottage for our match straight afterwards. It was half-time when I arrived I took mrs zoz to that one. I went to the match at Burnden that Collini reffed. I've watched us against obscure clubs like Gretna, Partick Thistle, Newport, Fleetwood and Bury.

The game I wish I had seen was Pisa, and sometimes smiffs talks about it on WWays and I get jealous

 

regrets i've had a few, but then again too few to mention

 

did all them except the dunfermline friendly, sorry to rub it in but the Pisa trip was magic especially if you were on the coach that travelled down, some great horwich lads on that trip and also a good number of us walkden whites, the one game that kills me missing was the newcastle away replay at elland road, I went but never got in.

Thing is

 

Hull is one big time machine so you would just need to visit the place and hey presto you're back in the early nineties.

 

Obviously you wouldn't get to see the game but Boothferry Park is still there so I'm sure you could find a way in and re-enact the match

Reading Play Off final, was stuck in a wet trench on that day.

play-off final against preston, was in turkey at the time, was gutted i missed it, but the good thing bout it, i was the only bolton fan in the bar where i watched it, and all the rest where preston fans, started a conga off though at the end with the locals, was funny at the time too. =D>

I remember you being well pi55ed off that you missed the Wolves play off semi second leg too. For me it was the play off against Preston. Holiday was booked well in advance. Only time I've been glad my plane was delayed for 3 hours so at least i got to watch it at the airport.

Preston away in the sixties. I dont remember the date or year but I had a cold at the time and my dad wouldn't let me go. The reason why I was so dissapointed was because I missed a goal that Frannie Lee scored. I've heard different versions but he somehow managed to round the keeper before turning and backhealing the ball in the net. Anyone shed any light on the incident?

Oh aye! One of the memorable games at Deepdale that was. Franny was taking the p1ss big time. That goal was in the bouncy end too - in front of the massed ranks of BWFC fans. Exactly as you describe. PNE were trying to kick chunks out of him but he rode the challenges; hurdled the flying legs; dribbled around the keeper and stopped on the goal line. Turned his back to us and waited with his foot on the ball until 2 or 3 PNE defenders came charging at him. Back heeled it over the line at the very last second - cue pandemonium in the bouncy end

Pretty sure that was the same game that a well knwon 'Dennis' took on about 20 OB behind the nets and almost won! Helmets flying everywhere - looked like a Keystone Cops movie Seem to recall a photo in the newspaper of the big lad with a cop in a headlock; another on the floor with D's foot on his throat and helmets and bodies lying all around!

Football were entertaining them days alreet.

More recently - Plovdiv. Went to Guimaraes and Marseille. Guimaraes was the best day of my life but reading what people have said, Plovdiv was even better. Wish I'd been
