Do you know, I've looked at my statement again and you're right. I'm simple, foolish and should know my place. How silly of me.

I'll bob off to the needlework forum to cause havoc there.

Not so fast! He still hasn't explained how he thinks that Sammy Lee can still turn this around whilst at the same time being destined to fail!

What makes you think that we won't come through the bad spell we're currently experiencing? (and please don't use your job as an analogy)

We may do. But at the moment a guy who has spent all his life in football, has worked under some well respected managers as a coach and assistant, has turned out a team that is embarrasingly badly organised three times in a row, and he and the team are now under far greater pressure, making it an even more difficult task. It doesn't provide the basis for much faith.

Also, what is wrong with ew2's analogy? Do you think that football management is so special that no other situations in life can possibly have any similarities to any aspect of it?

Comparing the management of a professional football team to managing a team of people at work is ludicrous.

I compared them on the basis that if a situation is in decent shape, it's daft to change it. And if you DO, and it goes tits up, you'll know about it.

Don't argue with this Trotter58 goon, completely futile exercise, he'll say anything.

I never once mentioned managing a team at work.

edit: maybe you'll just shut the f?ck up now for Christ's sake and prepare for a hard day boring every c?nt in your office at your new job now.

Your statement was bollocks. That was clear ages ago. You are the one banging on about nothing.

Needlework? What? Are you mental? What ARE you talking about?

Another one who'll say anything bar sticking to the actual point.

Nobody is doing that though. All people are saying is that there are possibly some similarities in certain situations, and using these similarities helps make a point. There are people on here comparing Sammy Lee's tatics to Fat Women in Icon fitting into tight dresses. Presumably you find this easier to understand? But remember in saying this nobody is comparing football management to women's dress senses.

All people are saying is that there are possibly some similarities in certain situations, and using these similarities helps make a point.

Give us an example.

I just did.

Firstly the 'situation' wasn't in decent shape was it? Secondly you introduced your new job as a comparison. So you're wrong on both counts.

this is a FACT

we've finished top 8 four years running

this is a FACT

you finish in the position your points total earns you

sammy lee has changed our way of playing

its a risky strategy ripping up something that works when you get a new job

this is an OPINION

he's changed too much at once and we're a shambles

I just did.

You've been taking the stupid pills again haven't you?

...and this is pure BULLSHIT

No. Though if I am to converse with you I will clearly need them.

We've been shit since January. Exactly how long did you want him to wait before changing things?

I said "and changing EVERYTHING IMMEDIATELY".

Of course we needed SOME changes - as others have said, evolution not revolution.

LSL has been at the Reebok 2 years, so he knows what BSA was doing right and what he was doing wrong (in his opinion).

We got 56 lucky points I guess.

I don't give a shit who agrees or doesn't, putting a 38 game season down to luck is plain and simple foolishness.

Give it up

surely both UEFA qualifications have - by definition - been down to luck as they've depended upon what's happened elsewhere in the Cup competitions? Unless I'm missing summat the only way to guarantee (or put another way, earn) a UEFA place is by coming 5th? Not that I complained when I did 'em all, nor will I again when I'll do 'em all again, but to say luck did not play a part in euro qualification is simply wrong.

Thanks no balls and exiledwhite. That was the most enjoyable exchange of views we've had on here in a long time. Great fun.

No. Though if I am to converse with you I will clearly need them.

Tickled me, that one

Not bad that Cas but I would amend your penultimate statement, as 4 wins since Christmas was a clear sign that the 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 under FSA was no longer working.

I do agree though, that LSL has changed too much at once.

Some of his statements preseason led me to believe that he had a number of formations to use this season. I expected / hoped for the 4-3-3 to appear for away games.

You cannot disagree with anything said here, even the opinion... it's very accurate. The real question now is ... Can Sammy Lee change that shambles into something we [ the majority fans ] find acceptable in a quick enough time that it isn't already too late. Will he have a strong enough character to keep the players spirits high and focused?

The MOST worrying thing to me is the alarming way his interviews are not changing and he is saying the same things [ there are lots of positives etc etc ] and this is beginning to bug me. I feel that his personality is such that the players will get equally annoyed and turn against him. He's beginning to lose the dressing room I think :(

You get what you deserve on the whole, to take Bolton Wanderers into Europe twice takes a bit more than luck. I cannot for the life of me understand anybody saying that we were lucky to get in Europe, we got the required number of points, that's it.

Most seasons the cups allow seventh, and nearly always sixth, to get in.

And nb saying we were lucky because results went our way on the last day...in a season of 38 games...that's madness.

Defence needs to tighten up

Goals need to come from other areas of the team

Sorted

We won't win owt and won't go down if the above to things are sorted.

Lee should focus on nothing more than a clean sheet against Reading - which for me means Faye (if still around) and Meite centre backs and Campo just in front. Pack the rest of the midfield with solid players like Speed and McCann.

With Diouf and Anelka we will get one or chances at home and 1 goal will hopefully be enough for the win.

Sorry LSL but it has to be back to basics.

I agree, we are trying to run before we can walk.

He has made his changes way, way too quickly.

If he recognises this and takes steps to tighten us up, it will be an encouraging sign. However, more of the same and it's gonna be panic stations.

That said, if we win 7-3 I don't know what I'll make of it

We finished Saturday with 3 strikers and 2 wide players on the pitch but none of them troubled James in the slightest.

Back to basics it has to be.

just so we're all sure

back to basics = back to alladyce football right?
