I have not been one to spout off I know anything ITK however I have been speaking with the owner of my business (Man Utd fan) who socialises with at least one of Man United?s board of directors.

He was on holiday with him last week and while watching the derby he was told that Bolton had offered Anelka to United for ?12 mil and the united board of directors would be happy to pay that for Anelka. The only reason they have not started negotiations is because the final decision is Fergies and although Fergie does like Anelka he isn't sure if he really needs him. Fergie therefore is not going to make any decision on it until after he sees United's performance against Spurs this weekend.

Bolton are allegedly touting Anelka out to any club that can afford him as he is unhappy at the club and he's stated that he wants to leave.

I don't know how much truth is in this but the guy is as genuine as they come and he's no reason to lie.

At first I was pissed off that the club where willing to sell him however after a bit of thought I thinks it?s for the best. If he doesn't want to play for us the fcuk him!

Fingers crossed this is not true but if it is lets hope United beat Spurs 5-0!

We've all heard a story like this before haven't we. I'm not saying your lying but logically why would the board be touting their best player to other clubs when the market in which they'll have to dip into to replace said player is current in la la land.

If Anelka leaves it will be because the players wants to rather than the board.

Thats the point allegedly he has told the board he wants to leave so the board are now trying to get the best price for him.

Who knows? So much speculation you dont know what to believe. Its just when you here it from a guy who you know has connections in the club (Manure) it does appear more credible.

Working on the assumption what you've been told is correct then the board are right to do what they are.

A profit is a profit to the business side of things and whilst I would hate to see our best player leave the fact is our board are looking at the bigger picture. I know many on here think success will only come by having the best players (I happen to be 1 of them) but a sensible business man always carries a certain amount of pessimism ie. what if it all went wrong? This pessimism applies in football more acutely than most other businesses.

A new manager, iffy season ticket sales and more clubs than ever swimming in cash has probably set alarm bells ringing at board level and they are digging in for a bit of a slog. Can't blame them for that - they want premier league football every bit as much as we do if for different reasons. Couple that with a potentially heavy fixture schedule and a few players looking for a way out and the reasoning is sound.

Most level headed Bolton fans would accept a mid to lower-mid table finish right now and a decent cup run (cliche, sorry), and then I'm sure if the board have confidence in the manager after a season you may see the cheque book come out again. However, whether we sell the Elk or not I think we are unlikely to see any really big signings this month.

Dull but ultimately the right course of action. We all know the consequences of relegation with a premier league wage bill. And before the detractors say "speculate to accumalate" BWFC is not a normal business.

wouldn't take issue with much of that spider, but i come back to the fee

12 million?

just doesn't add up, to me

anyway, i believe one or two are at the supporters meeting tonight so they might get some questions avoided

I assume you mean too lttle?

Would agree if so, but BWFC have always been pretty awful at selling anyone.

We all know they'll take ?10m by this time next week.

People will be miffed, me included but to labour the point football business is conducted like no other ie. headline news every day. You don't see any assets of FTSE companies being spread all over the papers by agents.

12m just doesnt add up imo either.

his wages are probably 2m a year, it really only represents a 2m profit.

plus anelka will score 10-15 goals guarenteed, i dont believe we could replace that.

If he wants out then its damage limitation. But I agree, I dont believe we could replace him (even if it was the start of the transfer window)

but at the end of the day the lad signed a 4 year deal, he should be made to honour at least half of that.

I half agree but if he doesn't want to play for us then he could cause disruption within the squad.

'

Who knows? He might not but with LSL stating he doesn't want players who are not 100% commited then he must have a reason to worry about how it may affect the team?

How effective in terms of positive effect on the team do we think Anelka is then?

He is clearly a top player. He has genuinely got it all, and it appears effortless. But do we look a better team now than in 2004-05 when a fully committed Diouf, Davies and Stelios were causing opposition defences problems?

However good Anelka looks, very few players seem to play effectively with him. He doesn't communicate, and at times seems loathe to attempt to win back the ball, after losing it easily, something he does more than is often mentioned.

Personally I don't want to see him go, on the premise that you should keep your best players, but I could fully understand LSL and PG thinking that ?12m would be tempting for someone who will be 29 by the time next season arrives.

been told its little sam he is having problems with along with a few others .

that would be why we are playing shite at the present time

as an outsider I seriously don't understand why your board wouldn't be doing everything in their power to convince Anelka to stay. Apart from the obvious class he brings to your forward line, wouldn't it be sending out all the wrong messages to other players at the club who might be considering their positions?

is there any takeover looming?

board cashing in before selling up or something?

It is wrong to criticize Anelka, he is a special player who is too good for Bolton Wanderers

Whilst I understand what you mean, I don't like to hear that kind of talk. You make it sound like we shouldn't be allowed to have top players. Why is he too good for BWFC? We are a top 8 club. We need more players of his standard, he should be the first of many of that standard. There is no reason why we hould not dig our heels in and keep him and then show ambition - Riquelme would be the next one (if the rumours are true, and he changed his mind - admittedly big if). Why not think big?

Has Anelka even said himself and been quoted as saying he wants out of bolton? No and until then we have no reason to think he is unhappy and wants to leave, if he was really unhappy he would of stated it himself in the media as he has done before. But if Man Utd did come in with an offer i think he will be sold.

MUFC are chasing Berbatov, not Anelka.

Maybe however I dont think United have come knocking I think we are touting him out. If we have made Manure aware that Anelka is available they may just use him as a contingency option (just in case they dont get their first choice).

I don't think Anelka will, (and imho I think he'd be mad), to be just a contingency in a team.

Sorry I dont mean he will be used as a contingency, I mean they will sign him if they cannot get Berbatov (assuming as is correct and he is who Manure really want).

I have again seen reference to a ?9Mill buy out clause. Was this not denied early on in the saga by the club?
