Don't shoot the messanger, only posting what I heard. As for news feeds the story has yet to reach the media so that is only to be expected FFS.

Here is what happened. Sam wanted more money to invest in the team he wanted to take us to the next level, the baord were not prepared to back him. He even came up with a plan of how to raise extra money, the board would nt back him. after sam came with a financial plan gartside asked sam if he (gartside) could have a go at picking the side.

 

it went down hill from there, so yes he was forced out in some ways.

 

the board would nt risk bankrupting the club to get to the next level, sams plans involved increasing ticket prices.

 

all this is from a source very very close to the club, sam thought he had a job for life at bolton and thought the club would do anything to keep him, they would nt so he left.

 

can nt blame for leaving in those circumstances, but cannt blame the board for sticking to their budgets.

thats as feasible as plenty other explanations

 

but

 

lets say prices were increased by 100% from 400 quid (for sake of a figure)

 

average season ticket is now 800 quid

 

and lets assume we grow attendances from 22 to 27 k (again, it aint happening)

 

we're only talking, even at these extremes (having more than doubled our yearly gate receipts) about 12 million quid

 

i hope his plan had some other revenue generators as well

People go on about Gartside and the board when in reality it is Eddie Davies and no-one else.

 

Allardyce had taken us as far as he could that's the only reason he moved on, as for Gartside picking the team that could come directly from the people who brougt you "Footballers Wives".

Give Sammy Lee a chance FFS!! We know thats why he came to us in the first place with the possible promise of taking over when allardyce left, maybe for the england job we all maybe thought... he showed his commitment to us by pulling out of the U 21's job and other England commitments.
