i used to stand in the paddock, and was led to believe NSL would be the continuation of it- S/T remaining at ?99 or ?199(i think going back to my college days). the idea being that the Reebok would hark back to the 70s with a wall of noise coming from behind the goal, a cauldron of noise similar to the Embankment/Lever End... ESL does not compare with either of these

3 ways to bring back atmosphere

 

1) create singing section behind the goal & make ticket prices ?15 permanently in that section - it would be full every week

2) take the seats out in any section of the ground (if terraces become legal again)

3) move the ground back into Bolton where people can have a good drink before the game

 

2 won't happen because there are too many do-gooders knocking about the world , 3 is not pysically possible as I don't think the ground would fit down Chorley New Road & as long as I am overweight I don't think the club will have the sense to do number 1 therefore you're all doomed.

 

luckily i moved to Bournemouth some time ago so don't hav eto attend the Reebok too often - I'll just stck to the awayday p**s ups

No reason why they couldn't do that. You could also add a couple of cash-only pay-on-the-day turnstiles to make it easier for people to attend.

yep - cash only turnstiles ! remember them , easy access. Lack of them definately puts off a lot of people who'd otherwise turn up last minute + drops down away following as well.

Still happens outside of the top flight so isn't a H&S regulation. More likely the Prem League clubs thought they wouldn't need them, with the excessive demand for their product.

They're going to have to sooner or later. I predict a crowd of less than 15,000 for a Premier League game at the Reebok before the season is over.

Won't happen due to the level of season ticket holders.

Have to agree a no presence for a premiership club in the town that they draw there support from is a disgrace, would it be to difficult to have various newsagents all over town acting as an agent for the club and selling tickets on the clubs behalf?

come on then sweepstake on the Boro attendance for Sunday 11th ?10,000 a man to enter, we'll give 50% of the proceeds to Jon Arne Riise as he needs the money by the looks of his wage slip.

surely some sort of arrangement with the box office in th'albert halls could be made?

why not have a ticket office in bolton town centre, open till 2.30 on match day.

 

then at 2.30 a coach (or coaches) takes everyone to the ground ? - or even mini buses to the station to catch the last train to get there for 3 ?

 

you could charge an extra couiple of quid for the coaches.

I was part of the WW delegation that had meetings with the club last year when most of these ideas were discussed. I have also had a one to one meeting with PG prior to these.

 

My opinion is that the chap we met with - Mike Needham, Marketing Manager, a decent chap, but didn't have the clout to make anything really happen, and what really happened was him informing more senior people within the club of the results of our discussions, to little eventual effect.

 

The only way to get anything to happen at BWFC IMO is to communicate direcly with PG. PG, whatever you may think of him, does care about all these issues, and wants to see fans filling the ground. We aren't going to move the ground to the centre of Bolton, and we aren't going to rip seats out for next season, and it will not be straight forward to achieve any of the other changes, but there is a chance if fans present well thought through ideas. The best of these are I have read (not just in this thread) are:

More transport to and from Bolton at varying times.

Opening up the premier suite to fans prior to games - i.e. a club bar for fans.

 

But, a lot of the ideas around creating an atmosphere are down to the fans themselves. The club cannot create an atmosphere for us.

I don't see why it's so difficult to open cash-only pay-on-the-day turnstiles. Other clubs do it.

 

The club needs to make the whole process of attending games a lot easier. Maybe they should look into online ticket sales and simplify the whole pricing structure. Someone else suggested one end to be devoted to people who want to stand up and sing with a flat ticket price of ?15 for every game.

 

Let's face it, the fans have started to vote with their feet in very large numbers and if the club doesn't start to listen to them soon, they will find it very difficult to persuade them to come back.

when we first moved to the Reebok we had a coach from the Seven Stars in Harwood full for every home game...out of that coach of 50 people only 2 now still go as season ticket holders.

 

Now these people were not "JCL or plastic fans" these were our hardcore fans of varying ages who had followed us for years...and they are the ones who are stopping going...

 

As i have said before nothing will every tempt me back to the Reebok...when ever I have returned, i have been as dissapointed as my last visit...

 

I just don't like it, it's sanatised as is modern day football...and i just don't like it...

 

But I respect those that are sticking by it...but it ain't for me.

I could of done with a bit of sanitisation after battling through 6000 unwashed council dwellers to get back to the peace and quiet of scotts bar where I went for a drink with the 20 bolton fans who had bothered to go for a pint.

get in the real world,lots of fans travel from well outside bolton

our support is a joke,yet they all come out of the woodwork for a carling cup final

its time the club rewarded the proper fans,not the part timers

Thing is I could now easily afford it but now I am 47 I'd rather do something else. I even struggled to watch the game on tele last week and I never watch any of the weekend TV games anymore.

 

I have more "disposable" income now than at any time in my life but like you say rather do something else.

 

TBH I only come here for the banter and the odd p!ssed up rant

 

Only time I watch football is the odd MOD on a Sunday morning or at the "Conny Club" with AndyBWFC

 

I get offered mates ST quite offten but have only taken it up once, Wigan a couple of years ago.
