It doesn't matter who isn't there, but who is there. We often get a great atmosphere at a evening match with a half-full house eg Villa C Cup semi :drinks:

If we're 6-0 up against City after 20 mins, or whatever it was against Villa, I'll come round and do your ironing.

you're on, but don't burn me shirts, I don't even let the missus touch them

The lass on the counter said that 10,000 tkts had been sold upto today. That was including Citeh's tkt sales as well!!!!

But go a goal down early doors and you won`t hear a peep from the home fans, concede another and there`ll be more city fans than Bolton left in the reebok.

Hopefully a lowest ever Premiership crowd and then being outnumbered by the Massives will make Eddie and Garty realise that something is wrong within the club; you can't just blame the customers for not turning up.

yep, that's this season's sorry story.........so far. It'll have to change (?) sometime-let's make it tomorrow

Hopefully a lowest ever Premiership crowd and then being outnumbered by the Massives will make Eddie and Garty realise that something is wrong within the club; you can't just blame the customers for not turning up.

ok, if we accept they need to look at the business

maybe theres more cash to be made in divison 3 with 5 thou on and 18 pros on 500 quid a week

i reckon its the only way forward

just have to accept the fact the town of bolton can't support a prem team

itll still be nearly 20 quid a seat though

What would you say is wrong then?

Too nice a stadium?

No puddles of piss near the loos?

I can see a lot of things right:

Premiership team.

Quality players.

Reduced ST prices this season.

Cheap match day prices if you are a member, and compared to many other clubs.

Plenty of one off deals made by the club for specific games.

Beer system for half time.

Better pies.

The main thing wrong is the quality of the support, so-callled fans moaning for the sake of it, moaning the board/chariman should be sacked without appearing to have any understanding of the way club is run etc. etc., whilst at the same time watching the game on TV or in their local pub. I think the definition of the word support needs to remembered.

If we go down and we are on the verge of bankruptcy, then it will be the apathetic, moaning fans that will be the main cause.

As things stand at the moment, we have to start with the 17000 that still have the enthusiasm to go, and build from there. Lets hope Megson can build a new era, and we re-capture some enthusiasm from somewhere.

We'd be going over old ground there Bristol. As a loyal fan since the early 60's, the club means a hell of a lot to me. I have to say that, ever since the advent of the Breezeblock, it doesn't feel like Bolton Wanderers to me on my return visits. Probably sounds a bit daft that but what I mean is the reek of history and tradition is missing and it is just not in Bolton.

Stuck with it we are but clearly, some are lumping it rather than liking it.

Hypothetical question but, if we were still at (a redeveloped) Burnden, do you believe our crowds would be as low as they are now? I don't but many will disagree. We have a soulless concrete bowl which is not in Bolton and we are stuck with it. Just like the unfulfilment of our other unrealistic expectations, we just have to accept small crowds and get on with it.

HERE HERE 'bristol wanderer' I'll drink to that :drinks:

That isn't the case for the dozen or so fans that I sit with. We have a good sing song whatever the score is, fuelled by...........err ..........enthusiasm
Best get used to the chant now cos we`ll be hearing it all night!

No tickets on sale on the day of the match!

In which case, do we get in there first with a chant of 'our support is f#cking sh#t' ?

I agree with bolty58 and think "our location is f~cking sh~t" would be a better choice

The point about Bolton not being able to support a Premier League team is baloney.Towns/cities the size of Nottingham/Bristol/Wolverhampton/Derby/Leicester and Sunderland have all had a Premier League side for less seasons than Bolton.

George, I am flattered by your agreement and shocked by your use of angry words like baloney. I thought you were programmed to be laconic (see what I did there :D )

How many teams have new "soulless concrete bowls" and get bigger crowds than they used to ?

Hull, Doncaster, Shrewsbury, MK Dons, Arsenal, Sunderland, Wigan, Reading, Huddersfield, Swansea

and thats just off the top of my head. Mix of divisions, mix of areas.

Question is why are we so different ?

If you look at when we played Villa at Burnden Park either in the cup or league, I bet the

crowd was similar to sunday !!

Fair play, 1-0 to you !!

I live outside Bolton anyway, so it matters not where the ground is !!

The lass on the counter said that 10,000 tkts had been sold upto today. That was including Citeh's tkt sales as well!!!!

I find that hard to believe - 4,500 tickets sold in the Bolton sections of the ground.

The Bolton News is quoting 15,000 - 10,000 Bolton fans. The poll on here is normally a good guide to a likely attendance and from this, I would back the 15,000 quoted in the BN rather than the 10,000 figure you have mentioned.

Plus the non-football income will be more relevant in the overall finances.

<_<

City fans can f?ck off after last season's "boycott"

bet they don't have any now they're in the top 4

at least we're consistent with our p?ss poor crowds

I know what the BN and people on here are quoting. I'm just quoting what the lass on the counter said. Perhaps she got it wrong?

I think the figure will be nearer to 15k too. But bear in mind that we've played 3 home games in 6 days. Plus tonights team will prob be the reserves/players who've not played much, ie, Braaten & Stelios. That will give some folk a reason for not going.

We get bigger crowds than we used to,which is a flaw in your question.

But unlike other clubs of our stature we have built a ground 6 miles out in the sticks with much worse access than the old ground.

When i say access i mean for Bolton fans who live in Bolton, not away fans or the small number that travel by motorway.

Ok Bolty, and George, and others who make the same point, I fully accept that the location of the Reebok is not ideal, and the location changes the feel of a game, and it would be far better to have the stadium in the centre of Bolton.

But as you say we are stuck with it, so the fans have two choices:

1.) Fcuk the whole thing off, and watch games occasionally when there is nothing better to do, or

2.) Do all we can to turn the Reebok into a better place i.e. make it home, and make it a place that is enjoyable to be at.

What I struggle to understand is that our crowds were very healthy in 2003/04, six years after the Reebok opened, with a regular 25000+ home attendance.

Now, four years later, during which our team has improved considerably, we have lost a third of that support? Why is this?

Does it take six years to realise that the Reebok is in the wrong location? Does the buzz go out of it when we are safe and in upper mid table? Is Football in general no longer enticing?

All I would say is that if you care about the well being of BWFC then the club needs your support, and needs fans to be at games for a variety of reasons. We don't have the fanbase to cope with losing one third of it. But if fans have lost interest, then that is their business and not worthy of critiscm, it just doesn't do the club/team/town any good.

2.) Do all we can to turn the Reebok into a better place i.e. make it home, and make it a place that is enjoyable to be at - how, the club aren't interested in making it so, and the overzealous steward/policing doesn't help

Does it take six years to realise that the Reebok is in the wrong location? Does the buzz go out of it when we are safe and in upper mid table? Is Football in general no longer enticing? You're correct, it's no longer enticing, unless you're bringing along a 5yr old who wants a hot dog

Attempts were made to speak to the club about various issues, these fell on deaf ears by the ignorant f?ckers & I don't blame anyone for turning their back on BWFC. So many things need to change................you can start by putting a ticket office IN BOLTON TOWN CENTRE

But we all know Bolton fans would sooner slate their own than admit the whole Reebok 'experience' is sh?t & the club is badly run (and before anyone pipes up - we're not talking about clearing the debt).

City fans can f?ck off after last season's "boycott"

Where were you last year, where were you when you were shit, should be the chant tonight.
