So Its Capello

I think the fact he doesn't speak English too well, at the minute, is that much of a problem, he doesn't speak Spanish that well either apparently, but it didn't stop him winning the Spanish League with Real Madrid.

It's a shame we can't have an English manager, but when you look at the dross that's available, I'm glad we have gone foreign

I think he'll mark a few cards early doors. From what I've read he doesn't take an shit, which has made me surprised the FA have appointed him.

Personally, think he's the right man for the job. Will command immeiate respect from the players, fans and media which lets be honest, McClaren never had and which some of the lesser names who were touted as potential candidates would struggle to achieve. Neil Bonnars article in the BEN claims Steve Coppell is undoubtedly the best man for the job!? The same Steve Coppelll who lasted about 5 mins beacuse of the 'pressure' at Man City and who's hardly set the managerial world alight since then.

Personally I think the media will have a field day. If sucessful they'll say they put him into the job; if unsucessful they'll say it should have been an Englishman. The press are in a win-win situation.

yeah but they are just scum anyway

I hope he's got the bottle to drop the 'untouchables', because spineless McClown didn't.

I was reading up about him, and apparently he likes to play with two "holding" midfielders, which means that either Gerrard or Lampard won't make the team (unless he does what other England Managers have done, and trys to play somebody out of position in order to accommodate them)

Wonder if he'll let Beckham get to his 100th cap?

Capello dropped Beckham from his Madrid squad, then regretted it and reinstated him

sounds familiar

fortunately for Capello it wasn't too late

Delighted with this appointment. Can't believe Barwick and his merry men have made such an astute choice. Not only does he play winning football (and no doubt he will be criticised for it along the way) but he takes no sh1t either. Add in that natural Italian style and panache and we have potentially the best England manager since Bobby Robson.

All I need now is to see him riding to training on a classic Vespa or Lambretta and the world will seem a better place :D

Good club manager, that there is no doubt. But can he learn enough Ron Manager clich? speak in time for his first interview in Engleesh?

Think he'll find this 5 or 6 games a year lark a very boring existance. I predict he will get the sack, or resign before the WC - then he's off to Chelsea.

YHIHF.

Be an absolute sensation for us. Win the World cup and then p1ss everybody off by replacing rednose at OT.

Can't help but think that the sundays will spend a lot of money on finding his skeletons. And I don't doubt that there will be some and knowing the British press they will wait until he's doing well before rolling out the cr@p and then trying to get him sacked !!!!!

Well, up to now it's happened with just about every other England manager.

he's in the right place at the right time, no contractual issues, certainly got the pedigree, and isnt afraid to admit when he made a mistake. as with beckham, he is afraid to drop a superstar who he doesnt think is performing...

couldnt care less where he is from, i'd sacrifice patriotism for a manager who will hopefully bring glory

heres to a new successful era :drinks:

england team consists of all english players, so why should it not consist of all english staff also?

wrong, wrong, wrong.

but its not the FA that are wrong, its FIFA, they should set the rule in place.

African countries and smaller nations maybe a bit fooked though, such a rule wouldn't benefit them and many have improved under a foreign manager, fair play to them

fact we've become so turd at producing consistently quality players and managers makes me sort of glad such a rule isn't in place

I'd have preferred English but given the best at the moment is redknapp it makes you sort of relieved we can look elsewhere, imagine Harry's dismay on his first day on the job when he finds out he's not got a transfer budget

Redknapp would've been fooked as English Manager as he wouldn't have been able to play a load of big black Aficans

I can't decide whether I like this appointment or not, good track record, disciplinarian which is what the England team needs, but don't like the fact he can't speak English.

Give him a few months and he'll be speaking better English than Sammy Lee.

I love the Velvet Underground but I think a lot of his solo stuff is a bit wank.

Why has he got a contract past the next World Cup?

I hope he does a fabulous job etc etc but these FA folk just don't learn, do they?

"we feel that confident about fabio" will be the spin they put on it, guaranteed.
