he's a decent keeper, but he's not as good as jaaskeleinen

 

theres things jussi could learn from him, though

thought he could have a least made an effort to save their goal,it wasn't that far wide of him.

i personally would play al-habsi,but thats only because jussi hasn't signed a contract and therefore isn't in the plans for next season.

you have to think then that he didn't see it coming or that he is shite.

was sat in the south stand,from what i remeber he had a clear sight of it,he might not have saved it,but it wasn't that far wide of him he could have at least made an effort for it.

Disagree, only about 3 where poor kicks, most where spot on in distance and accuracy and believe it or not he THREW the ball out, one especially out in front of hunt (I think) who pushed down the wing and crossed for us to nearly score.

Ok I have only been back watching for the last 5 games but last night was the first time in 10 years I've seen live a BOlton keeper throw the ball out like Al Habsi did to Hunt.

 

By the way this is just my opinion and take on the game, I don't hate Jussi or owt, just thought we have a decent option between the sticks.

Hmm, to answer my own question:

 

Bolton's task before kick-off was made all the more difficult when goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen was injured in the warm-up.

 

He was replaced in the starting line-up by Oman international Ali Al Habsi, only was making his fifth appearance for the Trotters since his arrival from Lyn Oslo in January 2006.

The reappearance of Walker on the bench last got us thinking - he must be on a shit load of money.

 

What else can make a former England international happy to see out his days as third choice keeper at a struggling side having only played a handful of games in his 3 years at the club.

 

He has become to Bolton waht Nigel Clough was to City.

Thought it was a decent goal, and it was in before Al Habsi had a chance to move, so I don't think it was his fault by any stretch.

 

His kicking was no better than Jussi's.

For what it's worth Ali's kicking last night was right out of the Jussi school of kicking, it was shite, though i like the fact he's not scared to roll it to defenders!On the goal im told keepers don't like ball to close to there body's and prefer to strech t make a save, besides the power of the shot was immense(kinell where did that word come from)!!What worries me is how he got the shot off anyhow, i can't remember who it was but im sure the defender was far to tight on him!All in all though it was a good performance from everyone including the daisy hill lad!!

Going back a bit further, Jim Mcdonagh could throw the ball further than most keepers could kick it. He used to chuck it into the oppositions half of the field rather than clearing it in the traditional manner.

Must admit i agree with Crew, i thought Al Habsis kicking was pretty good - especially in the 1st half, he did do a couple of "shankers" later on though Overall he did ok, his distribution seems sharper and more confident than Jussis.
