Nicky Hunt

As much as I have slated him in the past, I think that after his last few performences I think he should get his place back in the team ahead of Mr Steinsson!

We changed shape last night after he came on and to be honest he was our best player in Lisbon!

Don't know if this would help our fight but I think he is playing well!

And has some zest, which is mostly missing.

good call

Plus it's only a matter of time before one of his 30yd volleys goes in.

What a sweet volley that was.

never been a Nicky Hunt slater

no problems with Steinsson either but it does amuse that we had to spend ?3.5M on a right back only for people to realise he ain't that bad

Is it not more that we've spent a load of money on a player who actually isn't very good? You can apply the same to Matt Taylor. Fortunately, they'll be alright in the league we're heading for.

Taylor has been massive disappointment but did show glimpses last night that he will be back

thought Stelios ws okay last night as well

Nicky Hunt thought the right back spot was his this season, the lack of competition for the RB slot earlier in the season made for some sheite performances from him - it's only since we signed Steinsson that is performances have improved. <_<

People said the same about Gerald Cid, they even said the same about Rasiak.

Yep, totally agree with you on this. Stick him in at right back, Steinsson to the centre alongside Cahill.

Hunt was on our side of pitch when he came on.

Good performance, his first touch is very good, links up well and puts in a decent cross.

The lad has bounced back well from his bad spell(s)

Nicky Hunt would be better in midfield where he can get forward and deliver crosses and tackle the opposition further up the pitch. FACT.

Need to do the same at left back too IMO.

Hunt's distribution is sometimes terrible - those long crossfield balls get tiresome after a while, but I believe that it's what he's told to do rather than an inability to play a decent ball on the floor as when he does it, he generally does it well.

hunt has been in the comfort zone for a couple of seasons, the arrival or mr steinson seems to be having a positive effect on him.

steinsons not a bad player, after starting like a train he does seem to have lost his way a wee bit.

hunt has played well all season

always thought he was better than people have given him credit for but the vital thing that has improved with his game is he does not make as many awful mistakes. he has never been technically gifted but he works dam hard at his game and now he has competition for his place he has had to work hard to win his place witch can only be a good thing. only disappointing thing is a good right back does not keep us up

When thinking about that, it isn't as daft as it sounds. If we play 442 we have a left winger, but not a right sided midfielder. In his last few games Hunt has played very well, but for me he is better attacking than defending. IMO we could maybe try him for a spell in a game on the right of midfield and see how he goes on, if he's terrible then so what, we move him back to right back with no harm done.

Nicky Hunt is a good athlete i.e quick, probably does very well in the bleep tests that modern sports coaches love.

Technically he a poor premiership player, stands off his player never closes down, gets his feet in the wrong

position when the ball goes behind him, heading ability is not worthy of comment, doesn't so much pass as

punts the ball forward.

8/10 for effort

4/10 for ability

well, how does he compare with steinsson, from a coaching perspective?

Steinsson scores highly on the "Julian Darby Test", this is a measure of how much you can scare your opponent by throwing your arms in the air when you are closing them down.
