we wont win either with Megson in charge

FFS. It was a simple question and you failed to answer it.

FA Cup without a shadow of doubt. Any Cup that Scottish teams can actually make the final in isn't worth winning FACT!

the biggest trophy in british football (if not the world)

the lancashire cup =D>

Conversely, I would definitely want the European glory. Means more on the world stage.

Any cup that Welsh teams can actually make the final in isn't worth winning :p

There is no competition, Bolton Wanderers Football club and the FA cup are linked in history the white horse final, the matthews final, the lofthouse/post munich final, the Uefa cup was a decent trophy to win 20 years ago, now it has been seriously devalued, the F.A.cup is my last unfulfilled dream as a Bolton fan and I want to see us win it before I die.

Sums it up nicely Mounts :good:

Amazing how different opinions can be. I would have said the significance of the UEFA Cup grew dramatically at the demise of the Cup Winners Cup. Just to enlighten me, what are the exact financial rewards for winning either cup? I would imagine the UEFA would be significantly higher?

?2m for winning the FA Cup.

Seville's winning run in the UEFA Cup in 2007 netted them 6.25m Euro in total. That's about ?5.2m

im thinking the 2 million is prize money

the 5.2 total revenue?

if so, id still assume winning the FA cup would make more profit

UEFA Every time!

We will win both this coming season....and finish 3rd!

Ok, let's try and work this out.

6 games played to win the FA Cup.

You get 45% of the gate receipts from each tie: home or away.

?3.2m revenue requires ?7.1m gate receipts in total. If we say a generous average of ?30 per seat, you need over 235,000 to watch your 6 games. We'd struggle there.

gate at the final must touch 4 million

maybe 2.5 at the semi

do we see some of that

and tv monies

even we'd get on for the semi and final

more merchandise sold for the FA Cup too

You get nothing from the gate at the Final and just 16.25% from the semi.

The 6.25 million Euro was prize money, not revenue.

The prize for winning the UEFA final itself was 2.5m Euro ( ?2m+) when Seville won it.

Bolton made ?352,000 from last years UEFA Cup run.

Posters from this site alone spent far in excess of that on tour! :drinks:

Does that mean Wanderers are giving everyone their money back for flights/accom/beer?

Cool :good:

has anybody got video footage of holdsworth miss as ive not seen how bad it was since i was at wembley , ive not had the courage to see it , ha-ha

I didn't see a re-run for years either

But it was very much as I remembered it, almost from the same angle I was at too

And it was as bad, in fact worse, than I recalled

FA Cup for me, its got much more history and a lot more recognition for winning it. The UEFA would be awesome for all the away trips and piss ups but the FA Cup just shades it imo

FA Cup. My grandad was there in 1923, my dad in 1958, I want to complete the family hat trick.

It'll not happen and it's Holdsworth's fault.

In recent years we have had Boro, Southampton, Millwall, Portsmouth and Cardiff in the final so there's a chance.
