Not enough money

If we think we can replace him "like for like" then let him go. The problem is I don't see that we'll get a replacement for ?1.5M - I think with the madness of current transfer fees, we should be holding out for ?2.5M

I hope a few of those "irons in the fire" that Megson was talking about include a CB or 2 if we let Meite go. I agree ?1.5m is bit cheap but we would be making a profit on what we paid for him. Maybe Megson is holding out specifically for around ?2m as that is how the replacement he has lined up would cost. However with letting Diouf go for ?2.5m maybe he can now afford to let Meite go a bit cheaper than he would want

An awful lot of "ifs" and "buts" in there.

I wouldn't think that Meite will be going anywhere until a replacement is all but signed, otherwise we would be far too short in that department, and I don't think that Megson is that stupid to leave us so exposed, with only 2 weeks left until the start of the season.

I doubt that the money we have got for Diouf will have any bearing on how much money we will let Meite go for, that would just be crazy economics

kin hell they don't throw money around WBA, they have upped there bid from 1.25 million to 1.5million, think that they have forgot that there in the premier league, 27 yr old international with premier league experience and they offer 1.5 million.

we have obviously gone back to WBA after no other intrest and said yes.

We have now released Campo, Stelios, Andranik and not bothered with Guthrie. We have got rid of Bratten, for what he was worth. We have sold Diouf and are thinking of letting Meite go. To date we have signed Muamba, Elmander and Must av a shit. We are weaker than last season at the moment then.

compared to those listed the 3 we have signed will play 30+ games but agree we need more depth

of those we've let go only 3 (campo, Diouf and Guthrie) were 1st teamers and we've brought in 3 more 1st teamers

don't think Stelios, Braaten and Andranik managed 10 starts between em last season.

I suppose we will benefit from not having the euro campaign this term. I hope so anyway.

The point I was about to make. 10 UEFA games last season.

aye, but the first team didn't play them

I think the first eleven is stronger than last season. If we look at :-

habsi / jussi

gardener, obrien, cahill, steinsson

taylor, nolan, muamba, riga

davies, elmander

Then this represents a quality eleven.

I am worried when suspensions and injuries kick in.

The squad is quite shallow.

What a ridiculous statement

We've traded players like other teams in our position have to do. We may also have a youngster or two to add to the squad for the season. (Woolfe, Dzemali, Obedayi, Sinclair. not Vaz Te.

What is hacking me off that moment is the fact that we are dragging our feet with Megsons Third of "the three" Harper. We have offered 3m and Boro have offered the same. For the sake of 1m more get the f**ker signed and stop arsein about.

so we should pay more than what megson values him at, just for the sake of another signing?

according to the times yesterday, the bid was ?2m

you say it like it's no money at all - ?1,000,000 - it's probably equivalent to over 2% of the total company turnover, so it's not the sort of cash to be chucked around lightly

If it's as simple as just offering more money, why not just make it ?100K more, why jump straight to ?1M

I agree with what others have said. Meite is an international with premier league experience , ?1.5m is a bargain and for us to replace him its going to cost us about ?3m <_<

West Brom bid ?2m for this Algerian lad from Charlton, who has no Prem experience. Thus its fair to expect them to bid at least the same for Meite. He's plenty of Prem experience and has also played in europe.

Can't see why we'd get shut for so little when we've nothing else in reserve.

It's been laughed at, apparently. They're clearly trying to fcuk us around.

I've no problem with Meite, so for me we should just give them until we get back from Greece to come up with ?3mil, or call the whole thing off and keep him.

1.5m is disgusting insult to both bwfc and abdul miete

Totally agree

Meite doesn't deserve to wear the shirt again....the ungrateful piece of sh?t.....get rid and look for someone who wants to play.
