Gumbo Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I was out there at the time! My house in New Jersey was 20mins door to door The mother of the family across the road was on floor 64 of the second tower to go down! Her daughter spent the day with us not able to contact her mother as all communications fell with the first tower! At around 5.15pm we got a call from the mother explaining that she took her team up town and into Central Park after the first tower fell! She was strongly advised to stay in the second tower as she could be hurt from the falling debree of the first tower! She decided to get out instead! There was only one cloud in the sky that day! A year to the day later we won at OT!

peebles Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 (edited) How might it have been if america had said; "let's talk"? Come on mate. There is no reasoning with these 'people' We suffered the tyrany of the IRA for decades but theres no talking to this lot. Extermination is the order of the day because this lot are dangerous. bolty58 Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 'Let's talk?' FFS, you have to be joking. Reason with murdering scum? Annihilate the fookers - no matter how long it takes and how many there are of em.

JimmyRiddle Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 My house in New Jersey was 20mins door to door If that is from the front to the back door did you live in a WallMart!!
peebles Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 If that is from the front to the back door did you live in a WallMart!! I still watch the documentaries on 9/11. I can't imagine what it'd be like trapped up the top and having to jump rather than burn to death.
JimmyRiddle Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 (edited) I was on a resettlement course from the Army at the time and was staying at HMS Drake, the naval base at Devonport, Plymouth. With the security threat so high, a nuclear facility was a very weird place to be, Plymouth was gridlocked daily due to the amount of checks needed to allow the 8000 staff on-site!. I also think it shows how big the twin towers were that the lareg passenger planes could hit them at hundred of miles an hour but not come out the other side!!.
no balls Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 How might it have been if america had said; "let's talk"? Please expand on your comment. What do you mean by this? Did BinLaden ever mention wanting to talk or even to tell us what his demands are?
Guest squidgy66 Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I was off my face in Amsterdam after trying space cake for the first time. It was all a bit surreal. As I worked for American Airlines at the time at Heathrow I was called back. My phone was going f?cking mental. I Succeeded in losing my passport in true Squidgy style.
globaldiver Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Please expand on your comment. What do you mean by this? Did BinLaden ever mention wanting to talk or even to tell us what his demands are? It wasn't a comment, it was a question. Al Q would have predicted america to respond exactly as it did, and included that in their planning. So the US dd exactly what the enemy wanted. There might have been an opportunity for the US to show the world incredible forgiveness, courage and a way forward to a "new world order" in not taking the obvious route. I am not saying that it was the right choice, but at the time, and now, invited the US to consider revolutionary options rather then just taking the predictable route. Someone mentioned Ireland; well we were taliking to them through all of the troubles. Someone mentioned "to whom do we talk"; that is no excuse. IMO the course of action taken by the US (and the rest of us) has not helped in any way in bringing opposing cultures together (probably the opposite). Of course, another part of me thinks that we should continue to bomb the living shite out of them.
no balls Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I don't think it's correct to make any parallels with IRA. Whether folk think their demands were right or not, it was well catalogued. I can see none from these terrorists other than a wish to wipe any resemblance of a civilised society from the face of the earth.
Smiffs Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Honky planes, p?ki planes. Sorted. And before any of you come the sandal wearing socialist worker bedwetting c?nt, don't tell me you don't look at them with a bit of suspicion in an airport or on a plane, because you're f?ckin lying.

Trouble with that is though my favourite airlines are all the Middle Eastern ones. Actually, good idea. I'll get mesen one of those black outfits and fly with them, that's bound to be safe. It'll stop folk staring at me for looking like shit after a long haul flight too!

Went with Emirates recently and was a little disappointed. Lufthansa to Hamburg/Munich was most pleasant.

And on the train mate. There are parallels with Northern Ireland, because in Bolton there are two communities whose only interraction is at work and 'how much do you normally pay?' It is going to get much much worse.
no balls Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 There are parallels with Northern Ireland, because in Bolton there are two communities whose only interraction is at work and 'how much do you normally pay?' My comment regarding not making parallels was related to their agenda not their lifestyles.
peebles Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 My comment regarding not making parallels was related to their agenda not their lifestyles. I was responding to BD but I agree that, when I originally mentioned the IRA, I was saying we thought those lot were bad, but AQ are a different kettle of fish. However, as with NI, when two communities are segregated by culture, problems will arise.
