ROSSENDALEWHITE Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Bumped into him this afternoon in Turton, he said how muched he missed BWFC, and said he would like to return. LEGEND!!
DeanoH Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 (edited) Fat Sam is overrated and our success i believe was more to do with Gartside. We've got a far better manager in place now basing his strategy on signing quality Englishmen. Cork and Wigley are two of the most underrated coaches in the game. I can't possibly see how things could not turn out ok. Edited April 12, 2009 by DeanoH

beer_swiller Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 What Sam did at this club was a minor miracle and let us not forget that. We supposed to have moved forward when Sammy Lee took over, we all knew it wouldn`t work and quite rightly he was dismissed. As much as I aint a Megson fan I must give the bloke credit for what he has done so far because Big Sam had taken us as far as he could and lost interest. Megson has come in and got without the deadwood, rid the club of high earners and proceeded to go about his business in what has proved to be the correct way. He said it would take a few seasons to get the right personnel so lets see what he does during the summer. As for Megson himself, probably had he have been an ex Wanderer most the doubters including me would not have given the bloke stick. But then again thats only my opinion.
Garrp Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Bumped into him this afternoon in Turton, he said how muched he missed BWFC, and said he would like to return. LEGEND!! I hope you told him where he can shove his fat f?cking head.
ROSSENDALEWHITE Posted April 12, 2009 Author Posted April 12, 2009 I hope you told him where he can shove his fat f?cking head. He seemed to be a nice bloke to be honest, seemed a bit strange saying he would like to come back though.
Brains Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Bumped into him this afternoon in Turton, he said how muched he missed BWFC, and said he would like to return. LEGEND!! Get over it....he said what you wanted to hear. Its not about Big Sam anymore......roll on the trotters under Megson.
Russell Sprout Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Get over it....he said what you wanted to hear. Its not about Big Sam anymore......roll on the trotters under Megson. Not sure it always works out second time around, but Sam will always get a great reception any time he comes back to the Reebok. A true legend.
MickyD Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Always? I don't recall that being the case when he came back with Newcastle first game of last season.
Mounts Kipper Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Sam should be a politician, always looking for his next move, he could easily take Bburn down, for all his great work at Bolton a lot of my goodwill to him was undone the day he walked out and tried vindictively to unsettle the players the staff and the foundations he laid.
ROSSENDALEWHITE Posted April 12, 2009 Author Posted April 12, 2009 Get over it....he said what you wanted to hear. Its not about Big Sam anymore......roll on the trotters under Megson. I agree, only telling you what he said numb nuts!
MickyD Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 He didn't TRY, he bloody well did it! The backroom staff was systematically dismantled. They got their comeuppance though!
Brains Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 He didn't TRY, he bloody well did it! The backroom staff was systematically dismantled. They got their comeuppance though! And as a result, we've seen an overall improvement of the squad with some great English players like Taylor hitting top form and players like Basham coming through from the youth set up. Will be interesting to see who we sign in the close season, and if the players we do sign have anything like the success Taylor has had, i look forward to next season.
MickyD Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Sorry Brains, you can't be justifying BSA stealing some of the team and half the back-room as ok just because it didn't do any long-term damage.
Brains Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Sorry Brains, you can't be justifying BSA stealing some of the team and half the back-room as ok just because it didn't do any long-term damage. I'm not doing. My point was, if it wasnt for BSA breaking up the back room team and half the supporting staff, we wouldnt be in the position we are now. I believe we have a better squad now than we've had for a long while and thats as a result of Megson being able to bring in his own team.
MickyD Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I repeat that, just because it worked out ok for us, dosn't make it the right thing to do.
Casino Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 he aint saying it was just that it has allowed us to try a new way of doing things
MickyD Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Maybe I could have just replied with a terse "Oh, that's OK then!" My point was that BSA did the dirty on us, irrespective of the fact that things came good because of it. What was the name of the farmer who shot the theiving gypsy bastards thus making the area in which he lived a much better place?
Brains Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I repeat that, just because it worked out ok for us, dosn't make it the right thing to do. Something good, always comes out of something bad.....(if you're the superstitious type) I agree, it wasnt necessarily the right thing to do, but as a whole BWFC has benefited as a result. (IMO)
Guest YW Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I think Megson is making me look a right plonker.
MickyD Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 No, you're doing that job yourself without any assistance from GM!
Matt Lofthouse Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I hope you told him where he can shove his fat f?cking head. A tad disrepectful imo. What Sam did for us was pretty amazing and I doubt another European Tour will happen in the next couple of years. Ok the footy wasnt always that pleasing on the eye and his last few months/stripping of backroom staff left a bitter taste, he is still and always will be a bolton legend.
