Guest Biff Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 (edited) There have been four players capped for Scotland since the war whilst with Bolton Wanderers. Can you name them? Edited July 11, 2009 by Biff
no balls Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Alex Donaldson. I'm sure youve seen him play, Biff!
Guest Biff Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 (edited) Only two right so far. John Mcginlay and poor Colin Hendry (condolences on your loss). NB I forgot to include the phrase since the war. I've no doubt that you are right with Donaldson and there are probably others. And for everybody's information, I have seen all four play. Edited July 11, 2009 by Biff

Guest Biff Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Paul Ritchie is correct. He is the one we all forget about.
BWFC_LOVE Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Surely Johnston as well. Wasn't he on loan at us at the same time as Ritchie? http://www.soccerbase.com/results3.sd?gameid=357745

Zozzy Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I posted on this thread yesterday but it hasn't appeared yet. This is very frustrating. The Mods are picking and choosing which posts of mine are worthy of inclusion. If this continues after tomorrow please delete my account.
SatanGreavsie Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Was he not at Kilmarnock when this game was played. I haven't checked the exact dates he was on loan at Bolton. well according to http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/football_playe...FTOKEN=29909657 he played for them in march and may of that year, so he must surely have been with us for one them?
Sluffy Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 The Scotland match against France in which Johnston played was on the 29th March, 2000 - two days later we played a match - can you guess which it was from just these few lines? - "Deano! Deano!" the fans chanted in deafening encouragement. They got just what they wanted seconds later when Gudjohnsen, always looking to produce something special, rounded James and unselfishly laid the ball back. For a split second Wanderers were convinced they'd done it. They were in the final on May 20. All Holdsworth had to do was stroke the ball firmly and the glory was his! As the shot flew over from 10 yards the club's record signing held his head in his hands. He knew the chance was gone. Some 15 minutes later it was all over. Yes it was that match!!! http://archive.theboltonnews.co.uk/2000/4/3/735647.html Anyway Johnston was with us from the 27th January, 2000 to the 18th May, 2000 - so he was capped for Scotland whilst he played for Bolton. http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=9199
Guest Biff Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Right so it appears that there are five players capped for Scotland since the war whilst with Bolton. I must admit Johnston's international selection completely passed me by.
