September 17, 200916 yr We had a pre season friendly there when Colin Todd was manager, either 98 or 99 because Claus Jensen was playing.Boiling hot day we lost 2-1.

Think someone had wound Frandsen up that day too - he leapt into more two footed lunges that day than I ever saw him do in all his other games.

Supposedly the "next big thing" wasn't he?
September 17, 200916 yr and what game was the murder as we played twice there in 74? http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/blackpoo...nour.5599837.jp Have a look at this mate 35 year anniversary..
September 17, 200916 yr So was nobody ever brought to justice? Everyone knew who did it. Got off with a good defence lawyer and inconclusive evidence from memory. In the days before DNA evidence. Late home that neet after being locked in the Kop for hours and then passing through various police check points on the way home. Funny thing is I have ended up having a good friend here in the scooter club who was with Kevin Olsson on the day and caught him as he fell.

Dismissed before it got to court IIRC, lack of evidence apparently. Was it the same game Alan Waldron broke his leg?
September 17, 200916 yr Dismissed before it got to court IIRC, lack of evidence apparently. Was it the same game Alan Waldron broke his leg? I think that was a 1-1 draw and was later (75 or 76?). Knocked me sick seeing his foot pointing backwards at 180 degrees to where it should have been. Bit of a naughty day that day. Spent most of the first half in St Johns being patched up from altercations outside the ground. When we equalised, I actually thought it was the winner! Must have been out of it not hearing the home crowd roar for the games first goal! Rum times they were.
September 17, 200916 yr So was nobody ever brought to justice? The lad who was arrested came to my class at school after the case against him was dropped. He never talked about that day in Blackpool.

Not sure that, even after all these years, it is advisable to say too much on this subject. Not much said at Hayward perhaps but a fair bit said around town.

September 17, 200916 yr I went to the last league game, a 1-1 draw at Bloomfield IIRC Phil Brown penalty.
September 17, 200916 yr I've got a vague memory of playing them in the early 90s in the lancs floodlight trophy at burnden and a blackpool player scoring from virtually the halfway line, it was still rising as it hit the net... One of the best goals I've ever seen.. Having said that it could be time playing tricks on my memory of it..Think we lost 3-1
September 17, 200916 yr If I remember correctly the Blackpool fans were chucking pots of Airfix paint at us, my mate went over the pitch with his mate from Athy who was a copper who blagged his way out, as he was walking across the pitch he jumped on Gerald Sindstadts back, Gerald wasn't very happy, we had to walk back to the train station at South Shore (after being interviewed by the cops) which was dodgy with Blackpool hanging around all over the place, all in all not a pleasant day.

There were quite a few got out over the pitch that day. After dogs attacked lads on one side of the pitch, many ran on the other side. Athy, your mate must have started the trend.
