Postponed Away Games That You Went Too.

Seeing them Wanderers fans down at Arsenal reminded me of my postponed away games that amazingly enough turned in to megga drinking sessions.

Halifax int FA Cup was a classic piss up, Crewe was another :drinks:

Don't know if this counts but we still went to Crystal Palace even though the match had been called off before we left Bolton. We had hired a car for the weekend and as I was going with bigger boys they still wanted to go down to that there London and see what Soho had to offer.

Hereford twice in a week. The Saturday in Hereford was a laugh , but the novelty wore of second time.

Spurs in the F.A. Cup t'other year

aye - came out of the boozer and was going up the stairs at the tube station when coppers coming t'other way told us it was off.

The Crewe one I went for a piss in the boozer only to come back to find it was off due to waterlogged pitch. Not my fault honest :pardon:

Since home games are away for me I should add driving up for the first attempt at the Swindon LC semi home leg, through the worst conditions I've ever driven in. Only to hear the radio say it was off just as I got to Halifax junction on M62.

And another category - away games you dind't go to because you were sure they would be off but in fact they went ahead. Oxford.

Tranmere, Crewe, Stockport, Port Vale to name a few

Bury 85/86 in car

Halifax 87/88 on train

Tranmere 89/90 on travel club bus

Vale on Boxing day and Luton in Cup around the same era, mid 90s

Me too,got locked up for kicking off and putting a bottle through a pub window, not big or clever i know but they asked for it

oh yeah

tranmere and bury

and Oldham 08/09 in MSC

Stockport,

I didn't go to that, but a few London Whites did, including one who had flown down from Aberdeen (where he'd moved to through work) to London that morning and then got the train up with them. And for reasons most likely alcohol related they went dressed as cowboys.

So he's flown the length of the country then trained half way back up the country only to end up wandering the rain drenched streets of Stockport dressed as Buffalo Bill :pardon: :drinks: =D>

villa

Crewe and a Tranmere.

I seem to remember them putting on free coaches for the re arranged at Crewe as it was called off at about 2pm iirc.

Think we lost the re arranged 2 - 1

Rodney fookin Jack probably scored

I have vague memories of a game when I was a kid being at a snowed up. It was either late 70s or early 80s. Seem to remember the game kicked off in light snow and got worse and worse. Orange balls appeared, shovels to clear the touchlines before abandoning the game.

Hereford,Derby,Preston,Crewe,Tranmere and,Oldham comes to mind. Oh and Stockport, the Friday Robert Maxwell topped himself.

remember a home game friendly v stoke being arranged about 75 - cup 4th round day, maybe?

i was looking forward to seeing gordon banks

He'd struggle to see anyone now

FA Cup tie at Sheffield United in a previous (distant) icy winter. Coach turned back somewhere on the Pennines.

Away game at Hereford. Train from London via Newport - found out at Newport station.

League Cup semi at home to Swindon. London Whites car turned back in Cheshire.

Various other sad stories .....

<_<

Crewe..

Port Vale on Boxing Day

Same for me....The Port Vale one we told me mum it was on so we didn't have to go to my Aunties for tea...needless to say we were rumbled!

luton town, sat outside at 7:00pm

called off because of snow.

cocks

Preston :vava: Can't recall why it was off but it got a bit nasty outside station.

The game abandoned at half time in the snow was Everton over the Christmas period, the game were George Woods did Peter Reids knee injury I think?
