Depend on what expectations you set for him. For me staying in this division will do for starters.

Staying in the Prem is this season's aim, maybe an FA Cup run, then slow build from there.

May have to accept a relegation first, though I think we can now find 3 worse teams.

They lies the issue for me, for me staying up is realistic bit for me but some it will not be

avoid relegation is really only what we can expectfrom him this year.

Staying up with a little bit in hand and upsetting as many people as we possibly can along the way will do the trick for me every year. A cup run now and again and im sure we will have a wonder season every now and again. I think OC will keep us up this year without too much trouble.

I think that's what he means, and I agree with him. It wouldn't have been pretty, but I teckon we would have survived

Top 6 at worst: otherwise Coyle Out.

This is a totally more positive atmosphere than megson, lee or even sam arriving. Sam was a gamble when he initially arrived remember.( five year plan for prem that happened in one)

 

There is a feeling amongst the club in general that this is a great move for us and Owen Coyle. It's rare in modern times as a Bolton fan that we have managed to acquire someone, player or manager, that their parent club seriously didn't want to part with and also one that has churned up so much hype throughout football.

 

Who knows what the future holds for us but at least the fans, players, press,owners, and chairman are on a high that has not been experienced at Bolton for donkeys years.

 

It's so tough to put into words. How can you convey the rationale of joy to a 12 yr old boy that doesn't quite share my optimism.(he just don't get it yet, hopefully he will soon)

He could turn out to be a diamond with a huge future. Let's hope we have a budding Shankly on our hands.

Got to admit that the optimism and feel good factor with Owen Coyle has taken me by surprise.

I agree. With Megson we had a 10% chance that we would have gone down.

 

Just hope that Coyle does not do a Sammy Lee and start changing to a style unsuited to the current players.

 

Bolton have never been anything other than a muscular long ball team when they have been successful in the top flight.

Allardyce, and Ridding were lovers of the long ball.

 

The Rioch era was in the 3rd then 2nd tiers. They just couldn't hack it in the Premiership. They weren't as good as the others at on the deck football and couldn't out muscle them. A bit like to-day's Burnley who unfortunately will go down.

 

I am behind Coyle 100%, but nervous.

as long as he's better than the last two total tossers, he cant lose. and basically it cant be worse. so he's a winner already.

He has to love the club, Owen does.. holds the club close to his heart. You can imagine all the shite hes been getting from Bunrley fans over the last few days really beating him down.. as he turned that club round. Wtching him on SSN last night walking out of the Reebok.. i dont think there was a happier bloke in the world..

 

he has to be able t motivate the players.. we have a strong squad, and fear that we werent getting the most out of half the players under Megson.. you only have to listen to his rants about players trying to undermine him to realise that things behind the scenes weren't quite right. Owens proved he can motivate.. Burnleys first half has mainly been down to the players attitude.. such as when we first went up.. Hull did the same..

 

has to have the balls to play a style that will start us winning matches no matter how pretty or un pretty the football is.. this we have to wait and see..

we know we are a feeder club though.. as long as he does well such as Rioch and Big Sam did.. we'll be happy.. nver know could stay as long as Foweraker
