January 5, 201412 yr Great fillum Daniel Day Lewis is brilliant in it He's also a fucking mentalist. He's a 'method actor' who just takes it a bit to far. Gangs of New York (2002) For his role as Bill the Butcher, Day-Lewis took up lessons as an apprentice butcher and always stayed in character on-set. This included talking in a New York accent and sharpening knives between takes. Because he was so into the role, he refused to wear a warm jacket because according to him, it wasn't in keeping with the period. And surprise, surprise, he caught pneumonia! January 6, 201412 yr I watched Alpha Papa last night, I must say it was greatly underwhelming I thought. 4/10
January 6, 201412 yr Watched 2 Guns last night. Alreet 7/10. Also watched the Nissan Main Dealer film around Christmas time. Idris Elba is brilliant in it. Winnie comes across as a bit of a baddie. Of course, the film is all bollocks as Nelson was nowt but a terrorist so I took all the good stuff he said/did with a pinch of salt. 6.5/10 Oh, another film I've seen recently - Out of the Furnace. Fucking hell! If I have to watch another moody/depressing film where fuck all really happens yet it's spun out for two and a half hours I'll scream. It seems to be the fashion for film makers over the last year or so. Lots of blue lensed camera work, lots of staring into the distance ... and worst of all fucking shit, wimpy, low-key endings. Fuck off. 4/10.
