  • How the hell anybody can believe the contract situation is part of the reason is beyond me. When he first signed do you reckon he thought ive got 3 years contract so I will just have 2 years off? ::

Do you know that if you play about with the letters in Elmanders name it becomes.

John im playing better this season cos my contract is up in the summer Smith!!!!!!

Also

L' Deerman...

im not sure how williamson can actually deny this?

is he just saying he blocked him?

Banned for three matches.

Lucky not to get an extra game on top for taking the piss, I reckon.

I do think it's the Coyle factor

Megson just used to shout and stare at him in order to try and coax the best out of him

he's clearly happy now so why leave? (rhetorical question)

but it should be pointed out in contract talks, for whatever reason, he was w?nk for the 1st two seasons whilst still picking up his pay cheque, he tried no doubt, but was still w?nk

The Magpies will now be without both regular centre-backs for Sunday's home match against league leaders Chelsea.

two teams, no 1st choice centrebacks. 0-0

I agree, partly. I think its a combo

of

- coyle factor

- being out of contract/playing for his future (here or abroad) - at his age next contract is likely to be the last significant one (after the last two years it wasnt going to be a good contract if he didnt perform this year)

- style of football - we get the ball into his feet alot more, probably as we've a good centre midfielder (holden) playing behind him. Link up play on the gorund betweeen Lee, Holden and Elmander for example is much better than the football we've seen in last two years (prob didnt help elmander early in his bolton time having a centre mid pairing of Muamba - ok he does the crap well and happy he does, not the best on the ball tho, and McCann - just shite, playing behind him

Possibly a reason we're high flying too is the unpredictabley now - its difficult for an opposing managet to say how we're going to play, we've the direct option to Davies, as used alot in previous regimes, but weve can also play it on the floor now with Holden and Lee inparticular (and the left side to be fair), managers dont know how to set up against us as easy to combat it

so you think it is a comibination of coyle factor, out of contract and coyle factor.

Ha yes

The first part i stated as coyle factor was purely motivational/player n manager relationship (ok we dont see how they get on day to day before anyone says but i can imagine its better than with the last manager), ok point 3, style of football, is also coyle factor too (wanted to distinguish between)

The fact is he gets the ball a lot more often in attacking positions at his feet due to our different style of play. That makes it all down to Owen Coyle imo, Elmander has worked his nuts off every game he has played so its not like he has just started trying all of a sudden.

Thats spot on. Even from my point of view.

Its so obvious, now your playing the ball on the floor more, he is getting massively involved, and you can see why he had the reputation he did.

It realy is ashame its took this long to see, but saying that, maybe if he would have been this good, from the start, then maybe he would have gone a long time ago.

agree

at least he's now had the chance to silence them outside of bolton who touted him a flop JUST because of his price tag

the same who thought Megson was hard done by

don't get me wrong, I too think he was toss, but he's not now

and to me it's obvious why

better late than never

If Elmander does fook off in January, its a realy bad showing of a player and man, he is wank for 2 years and the club sticks by him all through that, then as soon as he starts o look decent, he is lookinbg for a move !

Football realy is fooking horrible at times.

working on a school in aintree at the moment and all the lads on site reckon liverpool are in for him!!

they told me this in between steeling my brand new spear and jackson handsaw and fat max stanley 6ft level.

I've not got a clue where he is now, I seem to recall he went playing in China, not sure about after that. He was a proper hard man, I'm not sure how long he would stay on the pitch for these days.

Coaching. (assistant manager) in Denmark apparently.

Spot on...I can feel it coming....I reckon even Liverpool might have a sniff...sorry Gonzo hadn't read your post

I have been one of Elmander's biggest supporters from day one and I have always said that the way we played(bash it up to Davies) did not get the best out of him. I still don't know why he squirts water down the back of his socks (For the benefit of Liverpool and Munich fans, Sox).

... but written by Coyle's mate, Nixon.

tbf to emlo, id want more than a 1 year extension too.

It's a 1yr extension on the same money as now. The previous offer was for longer on less money!

yeah yeah you'll be telling us next you were there on bonfire night too (the game v darlington, not the gunpoweder plot, before you ask)

Presumably it's based on his current deal.

The original offer was for a longer deal with a cut in wages.

If Elmander and his agent want to maximise the up front take, probably he will go as they will get a big signing on fee.

Ambition wise, I expect he is waiting to see if a Champions League club make a move.

I can't see any of the three mentioned, Liverpool, Stoke or Newcastle being there next season.

Coyles alleged quotes on SSN website look to confirm that bigger clubs than us have made noises to elmander, I think it's more likely he will leave now than stay, if he gets offered more money and a longer contract at a bigger club then can't really argue if he goes to turkey or russia then i won't be happy as it will just be about money - the best we can hope for is he signs an extention becasue he wants to see out the season with us and see what we can achieve and we get bigger fee in summer but unlikely IMO

Can't help but agree with that, I doubt very much any player would say "Shit, my last year of contract, I had better start trying now"

Massive salary-?40k a week plus ??
