Where i live now is the Dickie Bird estate, nowt to do with the legendary cricket umpire just every street is named after a breed of bird.

Shakerley in Tyldesley used to be called 'wimps'

flower estate in farnworth, because of street names

With Athy and Tyldesley being Bents and Bongs (Bents after Chowbent - an area of Atherton and Bongs meaning (Banks) hill (Tyldesley is partly built on a 45 dgeree slope - see pic above)

It was just before you got near the Mort Arms on your left coming from Sale Lane. Went in a lads house down that Street, scruffiest gaff ever, curtains for doors, tons of kids and puppies playing on a busted sofa, and loads of odours i have never come across before. I never went back.

Manchester Rd estate near the cemetary. Used to have a team in the Leigh Football League called Red City in the 60s.

I call the residence of Horwich 'Pig-Chasers' because apparently the name comes from when the locals hunted wild boar for food :)

i think its more to do with the fact that a lot of the residents are in and out of jail like a dicky bird.
