Sadly for Nat the rules won't allow him to be knighted for services to football as he's already got an OBE/MBE for that. not saying it's right but that's how it is.

If that's the case it's completely ridiculous especially when you take into account some that have been honoured. It would be too little too late now though IMHO.
December 4, 201015 yr I hope the great man gets better soon. Nat's too good to be knighted, head and shoulders above most of those who have knelt before royalty. He will always be my hero, the fact that recognition of him hasn't reached the mainstream makes him even more special.

December 5, 201015 yr I remember hearing that Sir Nat had stated to the club that it would embarrass him if they erected a statue of him during his lifetime. It wouldn't surprise me, if that's the case, if all the plans were already made. For all we know the statue may already be done.

December 5, 201015 yr Micky & Frank are correct. Nat was approached a while ago for his opinion and he said he'd be too embarrassed to see it in his lifetime. Such a humble bloke: A WORKING CLASS HERO.
December 5, 201015 yr Nat hasn't been himself for quite awhile. I just hope he turns the corner and sees out this season as I trust the players will do him proud with a top 5 finish. The statue has been discussed for it's location and thoughts on design but nothing final. Nat has always seen himself as an ordinary bloke and wonders what all the fuss is about, very humble indeed.
