December 30, 201015 yr Only one left in Leigh since the Globe shut down, and the nearest to me is the-Cart & Horses in Astley. Love it or hate it, it tastes shite but gets better after a couple of pints, when your tastebuds get fucked over. Edited December 30, 201015 yr by leigh white
December 30, 201015 yr used to work in the brooklyn, thats one.., wouldnt know about the beer, just its a tad cheaper than most
December 30, 201015 yr horrible beer, cheap prices, make your own mind up. Do they still that lager called Holtenbrau, The Brooklyn was my pre match regular in the Burnden days
December 30, 201015 yr Author All the Holts pubs i have frequented are full of old blokes with red noses, and thats not counting the Bug in Howfen.
December 30, 201015 yr Holts pubs. Now you're talking. Brooklyn is a decent pint, but a bit dearer on anything other than Holts stuff because of the new menu. The people running it have a 'rules is rules' approach. No hoods no caps etc. Dukes Gate just over the motorway in Lickle Ulton is a good pub. Mostly United, some blue-noses, and about ten Whites, good natured pss-taking once they know you. Top Dog at Outwood is ok but a bit out of the way for Bolton area. I call in on my way home from work so I know it's ok. Colliers at the top of Astley is a cracking little pub serving a great pint of Holts bitter. Bowling Green is a Tetley pub on a roundabout between the Cart and Horses and Leigh but they serve a pint of Holts. Bottom Dog and Market Street Tavern down Prestolee both advertise Holts, but I don't go in so can't comment. Oh and the Millstone in town. After that your talking Horwich, with the Crown a Holts pub and the Bridge weighing in with a pint. It's a good pint is Holts, once you get the taste only that or cask will do. Tetleys, Smiths, Boggingtons ? I've shat em, quite literaly. Juan Kerr, Holts Correspondent.
December 30, 201015 yr Oi, Atherton calling earth, the Atherton Arms is a beltin' pint of Holts, I had 5 last neet watching the match, there's the Half Moon in Tyldesley which does a good Holts and the Mort Arms which is probably as good a pint of Holts as anywhere, there are 2 lagers, one is called Crystal [which my brother drinks] the other is Diamond which is pretty strong by all accounts, lager in Holts pubs used to be called Regal - lager spelt backwards, great marketing by the Mancs. AW58 Assistant Holts correspondent to Juan Kerr
December 30, 201015 yr My apologies, I'd forgotten the Athey Arms and the Mort. The best landlady the Brooklyn has ever had came out of the Mort Arms a good few years ago. They left us a decent pub, which is now going down the nick in my opinion. I call in the Athey Arms sometimes, but it's a madhouse - in a good way. Three tellies on with three different sports on, plus the wireless sometimes.

Aye, it is a good place really, it used to be the Labour Club and I think some of the owd 'uns think it still is, without the Bingo, the landlord, Steve, is originally from Bowton and has EVERY Bolton game on.

Used to frequent the old Labour Club in 69, a great venue for under age drinking, and loose pussy knocking about.
