Coyle

i could list the ones who won't hear a word against him who will be all over this like a rash....

but i don't care

bar a month of this season, the football has been dire

in that month, the attacking play was top notch

his tactics aren't working and he doesn't appear to have a clue what to do

maybe when megson has told you day in day out that you're shite, a bloke sticking his arm around your shoulder is just what the doctor ordered

but, there comes a point where telling 'em they're great isn't enough

i don't think the players are shit, but they're playing shit

this is when he earns his corn

bumming up the fans telling us how good we are?

yeah, its nice to hear but it doesn't win games

today was shite

absolute fcuking shite

  • its funny because that there could've been written about megson   and you were one who'd never had a word against him   so what's the difference?   genuine question   for one month we have see

Did Cahill not play 3rd round?

Coyle has been here just over 12months, in that time he has pulled us away from a relegation battle, last season I think Megson would have taken us down.   We now have a manager who engages and ack

I would have thought a team still in the FA Cup looking for a decent centre half would look at a good one that's eligible to play rather than one that is cup-tied. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think sitting on the bench and not actually taking part cup-ties Cahill.

I dont reckon any "top" teams are seriously sniffing round him at the moment i think they've spotted his defensive lapses he switches off at times and when you are playing for a "top" side used to attacking alot and only defending in short bursts you've got to be switched on all the time....Arsenal & Chelsea seem to be looking at other targets and Liverpool have spent in other areas...still think he's quality but i'd rather get ?17m in to strengthen elsewhere than keep him but i think thats maybe getting increasingly unlikely............just had a thought cahill at right back worth a try, I'd say so

Fair enough - freshness and a bit of zip for me has played a big part not having enough competition for places due mainly to injuries and tiredness thanks to the xmas period - also we played Chelsea twice & Liverpool away tough fixtures....performances havent been great but when was the last time we lost a game we could reasonably have expected to win?

well, fwiw i think that is a part of it and i don't see how we're going to freshen up

this is why im hoping we can scab another dozen points

wolves won at liverpool

blackpool won at sunderland

sunderland won at chelsea

theres plenty games we COULD have won, but as a lower team we're gonna lose more than we win...i accept that

cahill played against york

My mistake. I thought he'd been rested. I looked at the match report and only noted that the subs used were Taylor SKD and Elmo. Apologies.:pardon:

Did Cahill not play 3rd round?

What? Do you want an apology as well?

doubt it, am led to beleive we've never had an enquiry of any sort for Cahill in his time with us

If he does go I think it'll be in the summer, and then wheater will play alongside knight full time

Yesterday was a chance to try something different in the middle of defence for first time in a while, and why not, we got a clean sheet too, bonus

wonder what are goals conceded per game is with cahill and without over last 12 months ? (i do not know)

we look better defensively when he does nt play.

Well Wheater certainly had a god game in defence yesterday. But when he realises that the rest of them can't be arsed, he might join them.

He was ok but I think you exaggerate a tad!

Right Cas surely you are now just being contrary...what's changed, player wise not much coyles not had chance to put his stamp on the squad yet that's when he can truely be judged but crucially for me this is what has changed............

football management is 9 parts pyscology & 1 part technical for example ferguson (dare I say it) shankly clough allardyce redknapp to name but a few tactical genius no but ability to lift players inspire enthuse it's all there & that is what has changed we have a manager with that ability charisma spark (dont get me wrong coyles along way to go to prove he's in the same category as the aforemnetioned managers) - doesnt always work no but it's a damn site easier to be successful than being say houllier beneitez neal mcfarland and of course sir gingerness.......lifted players is why notts county just drew with man city and with pretty much the same players we've produced more points and some outstanding football with pretty much the same squad under coyle as we did under megson

By this time Tuesday he'll have had 3 transfer wimdows to change it.

If the money isn't there fucking well say so. He keeps saying it is.

I don't expect us to sign folk just for the sake of it but the same problems we had 12 months ago are still there, we've cleared out some tosh but not replaced it with any better.

the only thing that has changed is off the pitch

And even then, not all that much.

Coyle's a bit nicer to us but we're already back to in-fighting in the stands and standing/sitting, arms folded, waiting for the first opportunity to boo or abuse. Fuck me, there aren't so many grounds around the country that fall into an eerie silence within three seconds of the kick off.

I reckon we're one ropey performance from whingeing about Coyle bringing everyone back for corners.

I'm sorry but a ratio of 9:1 - that's a load of shite

Why do you think there's ?millions spent each year across football with prozone etc??

I do believe that the psychology element is important, but football mgt is a combination of having that ability plus the tactical nous.

So was your "good run", just a good Patch ??

Am I missing something here? Owen Coyle is relatively new to management, especially in the PL. I'm sure he's still learning the game.

I'm just glad that we're blessed with so many experts on here.

Champ man has a lot to answer for

(That wasn't aimed directly at you Boothy, just a general comment

Of course we are

That's why we're on a forum in the 1st place

As has been said on many occasions recently; we know Coyle can motivate - he took on a squad that had no confidence and has probably squeezed then best he can out of it

We now need to see what else is in his locker

Time to "earn his corn" so as to speak

And I reckon he can do it

I didn't see cloughie reaching for the laptop when he guided a group of seemingly average players to 2 european cups??

Ok Ok before you start the modern game is different I appreciate that but it's safe to say that most teams are competing on a level playing field with regard to technology and fitness coaches these days so for me the factor that would allow us to achieve more than the teams in and around us from a resources point of view is down to our managers abiltiy to get better performances out of average players - i was just highlighting in my original post why i thought Coyle is a better manager than Megson and why for me things have changed for the better and will continue to do so

megson was here for 98 games w 27 d 26 l 45 which works out at 1.09 per game

coyle in his 51 games averages over 1.2

so the results on the pitch are better, Megson spent over ?10m in his first transfer window.

Megson is a cunt OC is nt.

Is this a strange debate, would anyone want Megson back ? Does OC have a lot to learn...yes?

Not sure what people are debating.

Well you talk some shite for someone who is supposed to be clever.

You're telling us that Megson is better for us than Coyle.

Get to fuck.

see, i knew you were one of the simple folk who can't see the wood for the trees

can we mould megson and coyle into one person please?

i guess we'd still need 3rd person who actually knew how to defend.

im just hoping this is only a blip, a very large blip, but a blip all the same.

get a win under our belts and we'll be talking europe again.

Don't get that bit Homo??

Despite OC's recent failings, what does Megson supposedly bring to the table? It's not like he had fantastical tactical / technical skills is it? We had an extremely unsophisticated system under him

He's still a bag of shite no matter what happens with Coyle

Can some folk get over Megson and forget him please??
