Superb find!! Obviously I’d love my Dad to be still alive (sadly at 105 it would be wishful thinking) but it’s stuff like this that rings so many bells about stuff he told me By 1945 he’d be

Chelsea v Bolton. Extended highlights from the main game on 'The Big Match' in December 1975:

I was at that one & like the FA cup game it wasn't for the faint hearted. A few Bolton fans got left in London when , iirc, the police made the coaches leave before everyone got back to them safely.

Where were the Bolton fans? Seemed like most of the supporters were on the same side of the ground as the cameras.

Behind the goal where Bolton scored, on the open end, starting off in the middle & finishing up with about 100 pressed against the fence in the corner. Felgate saving a penalty at the end didn't do us any favours :) . I think  a few more sensibly kept a low profile.

Barry Siddall saved the pen.

That was a few years after Bolton were on the shed larging it up, Chelsea in them days was notorious not many fancied a trip there.

As a young un I got Barry Siddall's autograph one afternoon at Heaton CC. Given the stench of ale I was surprised he could write.

I'd forgotten that Holdsworth hit the post direct from a free kick just before that miss.

Is that the Kevin Olson game?

Think it is mounts

Bolton v Chelsea (14:33)

Bolton v Oldham (17:55)

There seems to be more Bolton supporters in the ground than Blackpool at that game in '74. Look at the number of fans not celebrating Blackpool's goal in their end.

Probably a holiday crowd on with many folk not really fans of either club.

Blackpool's "end " was the end at which Bolton scored (the Kop ) , which was divided down the middle by a line of police. It's a shame the camera doesn't  show further back up the Kop which i remember as being packed out.

One for Malcmeister; who is the England Test cricketer mentioned in the commentary? In the first 5 minutes.

74/5 was the Kevin Olsson game wasn't it?

His dad played Test cricket for England as well. And well done to your mum.

Interesting insight from John McGovern about his time at Bolton. Apparently when he'd only been there a month, the chairman told him at 2am one Friday morning that he had to sell a player before Saturday otherwise the club would go out of business.
