Superb find!! Obviously I’d love my Dad to be still alive (sadly at 105 it would be wishful thinking) but it’s stuff like this that rings so many bells about stuff he told me By 1945 he’d be

The Chelsea game was pretty scary in the burden terrace . Lobbing loads of wooden seats into the wanderers fans , not just one or two , lots ot them raining down ( pre planned and timed ) .  I was surprised there were no serious injuries or anyone stopping them

" One man went to mow" echoing in the burden stand ... Followed by "We are going to wreck your ground if we lose " ... Looked to me like they had already trashed a lot of it during the game . I seem to recall the windows at the back of the stand getting trashed too

Aye "one man went to mow". I had an uncle at that game who was a fairly infrequent visitor to Burnden having been loads in the 70s. For months afterwards he was singing "one man went to mow". Meanwhile our fans were singing it for two years afterwards as we "settled" in Div 3.

I was in the paddock that day dodging coins and bits of wooden seating.  My main recollection of the game was Simon Rudge up against Mickey Droy and the too frequent high balls that Rudge had no chance of winning.  I couldn't stand Clive Walker but tbf, it was a belter he scored that day.

We did that a lot with Simon Rudge. Micky Droy was as much of a thug as most of their away following that day.

At this game , worst away end in the World and really should have come away with a draw ....

Watched the beam back at Burnden

Was 14 and remember seeing Craig Short on a big screen and thinking fuck me these division two lads are big scary hard looking bastards

TBF Craig Short was and still is a meathead .  Great game and we missed 3 brilliant chances Although hard to see as most of the Wanderers fans had to stand sideways and there were pillars everywhere . One of those when you jump up for the goal your feet dont touch the floor for 20 seconds and you end up 15 feet from were you took off .

I don't recall there being a moat at Burnden

Raoul Moat is rumoured to have been at the 1976 FA Cup 3-3 match if that helps.

They've got mixed up with the Zenit game at the Reebok.

2 months shy of 14 years ago , stumbled across this that I hadnt seen before ,

Also made me think whats the most emotional you have ever been at a match for whatever reason ?
