We were on ITVs the big match again this weekend.  The 2-1 win over Sunderland in 1975 in front of 42,000. Barr, Lada, Unipart and the Lamplighter restaurant amongst the advertising hoardings.  Sam's header, whilst not as far out as legend had it, was still a cracker.

Just watched that. S9:E17 if anyone interested to look for it

Not seen those extended highlights for a long time. Had completely forgotten about those two disallowed goals

Burnden looked absolutely tremendous. Always remember the BEN back page headline ‘The Burnden Bulge’ referring to the crowd

Like you one of the first things I spotted was the advertising hoardings 😀

Was in the Burnden stand that day right behind Allardyce’s run at goal

Apologies if this is a re-post , but well worth a listen ...

I bumped into Nolan in a pub in Notts last week, he lives near Forest's ground. He was in his Northampton gear so must have come straight from there.

I wasn't going to say anything until the gf accosted him. Told him he's one of my all time heroes, he looked a bit weirded out till I said im a Bolton ST holder home and away.

I said good luck at Northampton we're all rooting for you, apart from when you turn us over that is.

He laughed and said I have to say that was very bittersweet. I said to be fair I didn't see you celebrating or running down the touchline like Mourinho.

Wished him luck, he said nice to meet you and I nearly wet my pants.

Then I went to the Forest match and watched Porto's ultras go absolutely berserk when they scored (later ruled out, fuck VAR)

Looking at his career it's funny he's ended up living in Nottingham given he had one season there at notts county 8 years ago

He was with a Horwich girl and had kids with her and all that so always presumed he would live locally

The bit he's moved to has the best chip shop in Notts if not all the UK so cant blame him.

He was also there with his lad who was wearing a Forest jacket, so maybe its more likely that too 😃

How old are we :D

Yeah it did upset me reading that

I remember around the time he was making a name for himself

His Mrs, who lived with her folks round corner from my folks, used to work in the coop in Horwich, and he'd turn up to pick her up when the shop was closing up and help clean up and stuff

Bit of nostalgia . Sad to see how many of these are no longer with us ....

Sent me down a nostalgia rabbit-hole did that.

Too many gone, probably the most tragic tale being Chris Thompson, story here https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/10114335.lonely-death-ex-rovers-star-chris-thompson/.

Decent interview with Mick Bennett here https://www.wolvesheroes.com/life-with-big-sam-and-onwards-out-east/

And one most folk have probably seen, interview with Paul Jones in the BEN https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/19674352.bolton-wanderers-legend-paul-jones-remembers-time-burnden-park/

Not listened to it yet (and hopefully doesnt have Matt Forde laughing like a hyena throughout) but theres a 2 part interview with SKD about his career on the Lets Be Having You podcast.

aye, and Dave Clement

Dave Clement - Wikipedia

I remember that he had committed suicide but dont think at the time the details of how he did it was released - I know there is no pleasant way of killing yourself but the way he did it sounds really grim

Nice one

Used to listen to Quickly Kevin regularly but sacked LBHY off fairly quickly as it was shite. Just looked and seen they’ve had some decent guests. Will listen to SKD and maybe have a rethink
