I watched it on Teletext at home in Nottingham. It was a bit tense . Then really excited about a trip to Wembley

Great night.  I was on the paddock.  A bloke from Wigan I worked with then was confident they were going to beat us. I was bricking it and going a goal down, I thought we'd blown it. It seemed to take Oghani an age to finally smash that equaliser in.  Wigan missed out on promotion too that night as Swansea(?) won a league game and overtook them.

Did both legs.  Great times after a tough few years. Pity about the final, but memorable as my first time watching the Whites at Wembley.

Me.

It did seem to take Oghani forever to put that equaliser away. There's a rare glimpse after one of the goals on this video of the Manny Road north in absolute full effect. There were some serious characters/not-rights/hard nuts populating that part of Burnden Park in those days.

I also have a memory of some spanish sounding music being played just before the teams came out of the second half. Clearly designed to get us all going after that Wigan goal - and it worked. Wish I could remember the name of the tune, a pretty famous one.

Wigan's following was utter dogshit. For the chance of a trip to Wembley I'd say 1,000 at best.

I was in a Miners welfare car park in Langley Mill sat listening to Radio Derby with a Derby fan , i remember going nuts when they gave the final scores and i think Derby pipped the pie eaters to promotion that night also . Great memories.

My memory of pre Normid Burnden is pretty foggy . I was 12/13 when it went up so its great to see it . I remember the old alphabet scoreboard that really annoyed me as you needed the programme to understand the scores and we could never afford one.

Later on when in the Burnden Terrace where I thought the hoolies were , being told that the real headcases were in the Manny Road Terrace.

Spanish tune  , La cucaracha ?
