I may have posted these before , its getting very hard to keep track ...

Look at the state of Burnden on that. Absolutely rammed

Loved it. Was 13 and remember it like yesterday. The local hoolie, Winty, paraded an array of Wolves scarves, hats and flags round our estate that night 😁

Fair play to the dogheads, they packed the Embankment that day

Just looked. Official attendance was £35K. Aye, of course. Fair amount of undeclared cash went into a few folks' pockets I'd say

As Zico says keep posting mate

Don't care if you've posted before. I watch them all and am very grateful for your work. So many are games that I never thought I'd see again particularly from the Greaves era

"When the whites go marching in", old school chant / song , but Burden used to rock to it back in the day .

How good was Peter Thompson , I used to love watching him, he joined us in 1973, I am convinced I saw him doing  the ' Cruyff turn ' before Cruyff " invented it in 1974",

Heard/sung it at least once today.

Full match of White Hot 4 ....

I had a ticket in the Burnden Terrace for that

Randomly it was in my pocket the Friday of the weekend of the game

Found out when down the pub paying for a pint

When I woke up the next day it wasn't in my pocket

Rang up ticket office to explain and was told couldn't get another as it was for the terrace and the game was sold out

Devastated obviously

So my mum rang up and gave them an earful till they eventually relented and found a spare one on the front row of the lever stand

Was hoping to hop over the fence into the BT but too many cops stood about

That would have been a travesty to miss out on the game .

Capacity was 20500 approx attendence was 19500 ish, Villa returned 900 tickets , probably because of the crap away end having only half the pitch visible .

I was in the Burnden Terrace and it was rammed . Not sure if it was this game but saw a "scouse hot leg" twice on Burnden , think one was the Swindon game when it was shoulders only .

Brilliant game tho and well deserved win , just felt like we were indestructable at that time.

Watching it back some really "industrious" challengers that would never fly now ....30 years later , holy shit !

Not sure I'd ever seen Bob Latchford's goal in the infamous 1977 League Cup Semi Final Second Leg at Burnden. A gate of 50000 plus and what a let down.

If this goal is on tape you wonder if the whole game is stored away somewhere as well.

Maybe we should start a seperate thread for BWFC Hooly stuff . There is loads out there and I know lots have posters have many many stories to tell . There is a book "Walking Down the Manny Road" which is a good read apart from our mentions in other books .

Anyway just stumbled across this ...

Seen it a couple of times over the years, it was featured briefly on a Granada programme 'The rock and goal years'.  What I'd love to see is Whatmore's equaliser in the first leg. It may have been shown on the local news the day after and perhaps be locked away in a draw somewhere.

Got it in my mind that the thought was that a lot of the tapes of games from the 70s/80s were kept at the old Granada studios opposite The Opera House, and that they either ended up in a skip when the place was cleared out pre-demolition, or (hopefully) some nerd took them home

Not talking about Kick Off or On The Ball stuff, more the brief highlights of midweek games shown on the said local news
