I think that is a bit debatable, he's an excellent keeper and a true legend, however Jussi isn't getting any younger and seems to be in one of his worst periods of form. A lot of mistakes, a lot of goals going in that IMO should have been kept out.

 

Seen some people say he's finished, he's also from Finland[hence the puntastic title ]I don't think this is the case at all, but is it just poor form, can he get back to his best? he still makes good saves, he made a vital one against A,Young's penalty in our 3-2 comeback win, it's easy to remember the bad than the good.

 

Will Al.Habsi be sold, be our no.2, our no.1 next season, Bogdan? or will Coyle give Jussi the benefit of the doubt, after-all in years gone by, he's saved us dozens of points each season, I hope it's just poor form and that he can get back some decent performances, it's just of late, he's been a liability. Al Habsi has impressed at Wigan, not without making mistakes though, all keepers make mistakes, when made in massive games though like at Wembley, it can really damage confidence by fans and for the player himself.

i dont think people should rule him out completely just yet. maybe the defeat will put a spring back in his step.

hes part and parcel of bolton wanderers and it would be very sad to see him go just because of the semi finals.

Next time I see him in the Crown I'll ask him what his plans are. He's quite a good pool player.

Great servant, Wanderers legend but maybe time to move on. Had a poor season & I think Al Habsi is a better all round 'keeper.

 

Quicker, more accurate distribution & he comes for crosses. Made some unreal saves this season.

Dan that was just in the moment mate, he didn't have enough time to react. I'm completely relying on memory here though, not seen and won't see the highlights again.

 

I think Jussi has saved us loads of points in seasons gone by, I can't remember every save and every game he's played, but I would say he's been consistently each season the player who gets us most points.

 

He's had an on-off season, if it wasn't for his fingertip save what pushed K.Phillips save on the post, then we may not have even got to the Semi-finals, he's just too inconsistent atm, saves us one match[Villa] costs us a couple of weeks later[Man United]for example.

Didn't think he had much chance with any of them on Sun, not seen any replays but listened to a good analysis of the game (guardian podcast) which praised the quality of the strikes (other than Huths which was more down to luck) and Stokes tactics. Leave Jussi alone, he's good for another season.

You're right. His good season will be summer: we've no games.

Im a big fan of Jussi , but yes he hasnt had the best of seasons but not woeful by any standard. At 36 I think he has another 2 years as 1st choice keeper by which time we will know if Bogdan is ready to step up to take his place.

I don't watch Wigan so Ive seen AAH play about a dozen games and so far I dont think he is the better choice, if we could get 3-5 mil for him in the summer I would take it.

Some players get better with age and I am confident Jussi will recapture his best form next season plus I have a bet on that he will take our all time appearence record.

This could be where the problem with jussis form lies, phill hughes took over from fred barber as goal keeper coach [certainly on match days] , i know that in the past jussi has only signed contracts if fred stays .

Unless Jussi is out of contract of the end of the season we wont be getting rid because nobody will buy him and he wouldnt move. Hes having a new house built local so it seems he plans on staying for a while. I think he just needs a kick up the arse when he has a bad game rather than a pat on the back because he has saved us in the past. When he has a bad game we have to start dropping him and let him fight for his place, just because he is a goalie he seems to get away with the odd stinker.

 

Al habsi isnt as good as some make out, ive seen him drop a few clangers this season too.

Al Habsi will definitely go - he's a saleable asset that will bankroll a new full back. Bogdan is the new Jussi, at least he is according to the current managerial regime. Jussi is an experienced keeper who would walk into most teams for next year or two. Mad to let him go.

Fred Barber is an excellent goal-keeping coach who has been Jussi's mentor.

 

You can see warming up that Jussi doesn't react to the new man.

 

I just can't see why Coyle changed it.

 

BTW, the goalie I really rate as a star for the future is Lainton.

He doesn't seem to be the same keeper since Fred Barber left as regular goalkeeping coach.

 

If you've not learned how to be a goalie by your mid-30s, there's something very wrong.
