June 13, 201115 yr love to see him back, but at what price? Interested to see how much people think we should pay IF he was available and prepared to come to Bolton. Chelsea want ?20M apparently so that is the most. So come on how much should we pay? Lets assume we sell cahill and the money from that covers a replacemnt chalf and whatever else we need across other positions. How much should OC consider paying?
June 16, 201115 yr Two wins and five draws isn't much to divvy up, is it? In the event, we drew three more games with Petrov than without him. Brill. As for Sturridge, after he arrived we were P14 W5 D1 L6 F18 A14 P16 He didn't play in two of those - we lost both, didn't score, and shipped four goals. Before he arrived we were P24 W7 D9 L10 F34 A42 P31. So we were 1.33 points and 1.50 goals per game with him. 1.19 points and 1.31 goals without him. good stuff. sign him up.
June 16, 201115 yr Enzo's maths are wrong. Re-check the points per game ratio pre-Sturridge and the goals scored too. You'll find there's actually very little difference.
June 16, 201115 yr bolton wanderers spending EIGHTEEN MILLION POUNDS on a single player. fuck me, i didnt see that coming when i 1st started watchin the whites. Edited June 16, 201115 yr by HomerJay
June 16, 201115 yr Whatever cash we get for Cahill offer to Chelsea for Sturridge - and if they are not sure throw in Robbo as a sweetener - sure they would love his cultured football at the bridge
June 16, 201115 yr I would go for 12m and the rest on goals, Full England cap Etc. no good if they want ?20M though ?17.5M and that's final
June 16, 201115 yr no good if they want ?20M though ?17.5M and that's final Thats why I said etc, you could add all sorts of ones 50 games played, the 100 games play a set number od gols then another one, plus a sell on clause
June 16, 201115 yr our tranfer policy for a few years has been to try to get players and make a profit on their sale we've done it with cahill and now you think we're going to spend it all can't see it
June 17, 201115 yr our results away from home were better with petrov work that one out Maybe his presence on the pitch gives the opposition a problem, so they focus efforts on stopping him, leaving space for other "lesser" players to exploit although at the same time making him look ineffective "Martin Petrov Bolton's unappreciated, unnoticed and unassumed starman" Yours, Mrs Petrov x
June 17, 201115 yr Enzo's maths are wrong. Re-check the points per game ratio pre-Sturridge and the goals scored too. You'll find there's actually very little difference. Two of the games post-Sturridge were at Fulham and Blackburn. He didn't play in those. Therefore, we were without him.
June 17, 201115 yr our tranfer policy for a few years has been to try to get players and make a profit on their sale we've done it with cahill and now you think we're going to spend it all can't see it Fair point but the well muted view that we're trying for a player plus cash deal shows we're willing to invest some of the cash on players and if it were Onuha and Boyata a fair chunk - good sign I think although granted only press stories
June 17, 201115 yr our tranfer policy for a few years has been to try to get players and make a profit on their sale we've done it with cahill and now you think we're going to spend it all can't see it we could buy for ?15m, he score 20 goals in his 1st season, 15 in his second until jan, then sell for ?30m not impossible.
June 17, 201115 yr we could buy for ?15m, he score 20 goals in his 1st season, 15 in his second until jan, then sell for ?30m not impossible. I honestly think that if Sturridge does take a "step down" and is sold to a non top 6 club (including Spurs and City in that & the usual 4 due to their buying power) I believe that the buying club will subsequently sell him at a profit BUT I don't think we could afford to put all of our eggs in one basket like that Shame
June 17, 201115 yr Is there only me as thinks he has peaked/reached the end of a good run of form/is bang out of form again and shouldnt be considered at a penny over ?8 million. Not setting the world alight in the U21's is he??? All i can recall of his last 4/5 games (international and for us)is a lot of balls bouncing off of him- a lot of pulling a face that seems to mean "ooh that nearly came off- if only my team mates were as wonderful as i am they would have understood whati wastryig to do" ... and the odd shot from increasingly Petrov-esque distance and angles. Had his time in the shop window IMO let some other club stump up the cash - sit back and laugh as he makes his way back to full time bench warmer by Crimbo. But id have a punt for ?8 Million

Pass him the ball to feet in the attacking third and he is very dangerous. If we bought him i think he would be the most prolific striker weve ever had in the premier league era.

Elmander stopped scoring and Sturridge merely replaced those goals. Yet Elmander contributed more to the team ethic IMO. Edited June 17, 201115 yr by Traf

Ah but what you're missing is that Elmander was scoring in a confident, winning side Studger was scoring in a side that was desperate for those goals - we were less confident and on a worse run You cannot compare like for like Totally agree with the comment on Elmander's ethic, but I know which of the two I'd rather have and it isn't the Swede

Trying to make a point that stats can prove or disprove anything in a given context. I'd much rather have Sturridge as he is. Better still Sturridge with Elmander's work ethic, but that's not going to happen. I'd also have preferred to see them upfront together instead of persistently using Davies.
June 17, 201115 yr ?10 million rising to a maximum of ?15 million based on goals scored and England caps.
