June 13, 201115 yr love to see him back, but at what price? Interested to see how much people think we should pay IF he was available and prepared to come to Bolton. Chelsea want ?20M apparently so that is the most. So come on how much should we pay? Lets assume we sell cahill and the money from that covers a replacemnt chalf and whatever else we need across other positions. How much should OC consider paying?
June 13, 201115 yr We need to be realistic so even if he wanted to play for us and nobody else I dont believe we could stretch more than ?10m Unless he comes on loan we wont be seeing him with a wanderers shirt on again
June 13, 201115 yr I'd pay what we can afford to pay. Not a penny more. ... and none of us know how much we can afford. (DBP's grown-up post for the day )
June 13, 201115 yr I'd have that lad back in a heartbeat. His killer instinct and ball control is something else. Never seen someone as young, have talent like that at Bolton or in the Premiership for that matter. We won't be able to afford ?20mill unless ED gives us a loan again.
June 13, 201115 yr 10m plus bits if he scores goals through out contract, plus 25% sell on fee irrelevent anyway, if we can get him the cheap, a bigger club will be sniffing around too.
June 13, 201115 yr i'd rather have wellbeck more of a team player, methinks there, i've said it sturridge will be 12 million plus, with little chance of a later profit for that reason, i think we're out if it's a permanent deal
June 13, 201115 yr I don't think he's available for sale, there's a good chance someone will get him on loan again IMO.

I reckon if we bought Sturrdige for ?12-15 million we would be selling him for double that after about 2 seasons with us.
June 13, 201115 yr I don't think he'd sign a permanent deal with us. He may chuck in another loan deal, but he has plans for himself way above our station.
June 13, 201115 yr Actually, I think there's a chance he would be happy to sign for us. Obviously, he'd insist on numerous clauses, ie a minimum release clause and/or one that means he must be allowed to take to CL clubs if they came in for him. He might just see us as a stepping stone to bigger better things. Getting 90 mins on the pitch each week and scoring goals for us is a better way of pimping himself about than sitting on Chelsea's bench.

He probably knows that Chelsea wouldnt sell him to most big clubs in this country anyway so unless they start him he may need to do a couple of years at somewhere like us to get to where he wants.
June 13, 201115 yr in a direct answer to the question. not including swapsies and who else in stead, I too would spend ?15 pounds to buy him. his value would undoubtedly increase thereafter!
June 13, 201115 yr If we can afford ?15m to spend on a striker, I'd rather use the money to bring 2 (or maybe more!) in. Welback & Campbell would cost less than ?10m combined and would add more to the squad.
June 13, 201115 yr Like Jermaine Defoe or Darren Bent he will get goals whatever club he's at. Not a hope in hell it will be us though.

June 13, 201115 yr OK then, I wouldn't buy him. He'd cost more than ?10m, so we'd be better off elsewhere.
June 13, 201115 yr Couldn't believe it when we landed Anelka. If we get Sturridge, I will be pinching myself to make sure I am not dreaming. He has greater ideas for himself and I have no doubt there are half a dozen 'bigger names'(certainly bigger wallets) out there who have designs on him.
June 13, 201115 yr He's worth 40 million < This is going off the Carrol sale to Liverpool. Your mum let you have red cordial again?
June 13, 201115 yr Of course it was tongue in cheek, but Sturridge is miles better than Carrol, so I was just comparing really.
June 13, 201115 yr Of course it was tongue in cheek, but Sturridge is miles better than Carrol, so I was just comparing really. Point taken. More interested in what we get for England international Cahill when you look at what Liverpool and the DMB's have paid for young and inexperienced players recently. I agree with you on the Sturridge v Carroll issue too. I am beginning to worry.
