On The Pitch......

Featured Replies

The jordie thread got me thinking......

Alot of our younger lot will have never had the pleasure of running on the pitch in celeberation...or for any other reason for that matter!

How many times have you been on the pitch watching the whites?

Mine are.....

Bury in play off semi

Preston

Hull

And i ran on the pitch when we scored against blackburn to win 4-3...well i got one foot on and was grabbed by a steward!

Got gripped at the Riverside in 2002 for ducking under the barriers and jumping on Bo Hansen when he got the equaliser. That was the one and only time.

Aston Villa opening day 2005-06 when Campo scored our second after 6 minutes or something.

Burnden v Preston in 93 when we got promoted

Burnden v Swindon in 89 when most of the Burnden Paddock was directed to leave at the end of the game across the pitch to the Manny Road! (in the days when Manny Road was 'members only' and the Paddock was packed for big gate matches)

I've probably played more minutes than Sean Davies

Wigan FRT semi-final home and away. Went on the pitch when Caldwell scored a last minute winner in the first leg at Springfield Park. There was more grass on the bank behind the goal than there was on the pitch. Then climbed the fence from the Manny Road onto the pitch when we won the second leg at Burnden. As i was half way over, the stewards opened the gates.

I've been on a few too.....

I'll try and put them in chronological order

1. Palmerston Park Dumfries. The young lads used to go onto the pitch at half time and have a kickabout.. I scored some crackers!

2. Hampden. it was a tradition for QoS fans to change ends at half time wherever we were to be bhind the goal we were attacking (this is in the days before segregation) so with all the fences we just jumped onto the pitch and walked over it when we were playing Queens Park.

3. Glebe Park Brechin. was pissed and celebrating a goal.

4. Firhill, Partick Thistle, somehow I got separated from my mates and ended up going in the wrong area of the ground wearing a QoS top. I got chased by about a dozen weegie tossers down the terracing and jumped the barrier onto the pitch. I got lifted by plod but was let out into the away end after a bollocking.

5. Burnden, on a few occasions in celebration... Bury,Preston come to mind.

6. Wrexham celebrating promotion

7. Bloomfield Road. freight Rover Semi

8 Boothferry Park. On that memorable Friday night What a night

9. Anfield, White Hot night. was in front row near the half way line and got a bit over excited when Supa John scored. got pulled by a scouse steward but to be fair to him he just told me to behave and let me go back to watch the rest of the game (and I was sober as I was driving!)

10. Reebok. on a few occasions as a guest of people within the club

That's about all I can remember but I'm sure there are more... in fact I remember being on Gayfield Arbroath when QoS won promotion and Brunton Park too when I spent a week as a steward there.
