Bolton town centre is shit. It's not so much the place, it's actually quite nice in parts, town hall for example. The reason it's shite it's mostly down to the great unwashed that frequent it. Shame really.

The town centre needs a lot of improvement. Newport street needs knocking down and starting again.Preston, a smaller town has a far better town centre.

Its full of dole dossing scruffy twats, and other immigrant sponging bastards. Cut through the market the other day and didn't hear a word of english, there main lot looked like romanian gypos closely followed by somalians, the town council have a fuck lot to answer to

Also it is fuckin shit for shopping for mens clothes, scotts, originals and norton barrie which are all dear as fuck is all we have really

Preston is a city surrounded by mainly affluent areas, it doesn't compare with Bolton and its council's happy clappy one big family bollocks.

Preston City Centre mainly backs onto horrible shithole estates to be fair. Avenham to the south, New Hall lane / Ribbleton Avenue to the east and Deepdale / Moor park to the north. Its only out west where you have the docks and penwortham that is decent.

I work all over Preston including the City Centre and whilst the High Street seems ok the roads off it do get more than the fair share of alcoholic / junky scumbags drinking cans of special brew one can at a time. Frairgate is full of em.

Birch is right. I had the misfortune of having to walk past the market area the other week & can confirm it is full of East European shady looking beasts who have clearly never done a day's work in their life.

That's just the students!

All true but a couple of miles out of town and it's affluent, Bolton is only decent in one direction. Beyond Avenham is Penwortham which is fine, beyond Deepdale is Fulwood. Meanwhile, beyond Breightmet, Daubhill and Farnworth you are out of Bolton.

It's not all pound and charity shops in Bolton town centre, ok it mainly is but not exclusively. I was in Prestons of Bolton yesterday, it was like being in Chester or one of stockbroker towns south of Manchester, all piano music and glasses of champagne while you waited.

Which isn't so great. Trust me on that one.

Yes, my friend was in there yesterday buying her Wedding rings and she said the same. I'm glad about that. I thought it had been taken over by somebody else and was now just a low rate jewellers, that's good news at least. But as for the centre and the shops, I go nowhere near. I took my other half there last year as he wanted to see what it was like, it was a swift visit. They need to plough a lot of money into the centre, but whatever they do, it will still be full of scruffy bastards.

Better than Breightmet. Mind you I'm from Walkden so glass houses / stones etc.....

Thing is Bolton's comms team is highly regarded and has won a few awards.

But they are nit in charge of the shite hole that is the town centre. I was back home last week and I wouldn't have dreamed of going in town.

Highly regarded by other happy clapper socialist namby pamby bedwetters?

Well, in the institue of PR. So, yes.

Bolton town centre now is one big pasty shop.

Pastry gives me heartburn, so I avoid Bolton Town Centre nowadays.
