No Money To Spend In January

Bolton news have quoted coyle as saying he wont have any money to spend, other than anything he receives in transfer fees.

So basically, we have spent nothing all season.

I think thats a good reason some of our "fans" should take a reality check.

I'm not sure what this reality check is.

Regardless of how much have/haven't spent 10 losses out of 13 games is appalling. The fact that Coyle's net spend is virtually zero doesn;t excuse players from not marking at set-pieces, closing down the opposition, being able to withstand pressure etc, etc.

When we played Swansea a few weeks back the stats at half time showed who had run the furthest in the opening 45 minutes. The top 4 players were all Swansea players. That's embarrassing.

We shouldn't need to spend in January. The players we've got should be playing both individually but more importantly collectively far, far better than they currently are.

the money spent over the summer should have created a team good enough imo.

Utter bullshit, just more excuses for the coyle lovers

Open your fuckin eyes, I could get that squad winning

It's probably been decided that relegation will cost less money than spending big to guarantee another season's Sky cheque.

If money is that tight (The worst we have had it) do you think the board are likely to sack coyle and his staff and pay them all off?

I think they are taking a gamble by keeping him and hoping we stay up.

If we go down, we have a manager who has already gained promotion from the league we will be in.

Be prepared for the sale of Gary Cahill, I think this is the biggest hint yet.

I'm with Parr Junior

How has a lack of funds in January coming disaffected the players' performances this season?

Anyway having just read it, it doesn't say he doesn't have a bean....lots of folk say "I don't have any money" without it being literally true; it could and probably should be taken relatively.

Whilst either way, less money as opposed to no money means it's harder to compete, it's classic expectation management to release a statement like that right now

Don't worry about it, it means fuck-all different to what we expect surely

i'm not sure it's the brightest thing to say when you're trying to maximise what you get for cahill

What will the fee be for Cahill ?? ?20 Million Coyle wanted!!

I wasn't aware we wanted to sell him :D

So do I. I think the earliest Owen Coyle will be sacked is next winter if we aren't challenging for promotion. If the target is to stay in the Premier League the bigger gamble is not spending money rather than keeping Owen Coyle.

We have been quietly preparing for the championship since Allardyce left, that is one of the reasons Gartside was instrumental in the parachute payments going up and the reason behind him mentioning a premiership 2, it is inevitable that we will drop out of the top league at some stage our spending power is so far behind the majority of premier league teams it is laughable, in the last set of accounts it showed the average price per ticket at BWFC was around the ?10 mark, how can you compete when the mid to top clubs rake in ?30-?80 and have 2-3 times the crowds we achieve. That is no excuse for the performances put in by the team or the abject lack of any plan A,B or C by Owen and the backroom team, however we are 4-5 points of a reasonable league position and I think we would be asking for trouble just replacing coyle for replacing sake with some other non descript manager, if we replaced him for a proven premiership manager I would be in favour but I do not think that is going to happen.

He got promotion once, I dont buy into this we've got a manager to get us promoted again lark, the way we shape we'd be mid table shite int Championship.

Winter next year if were not in the hunt for promotion? FFS

I agree with the Bury fan...

Why would the board give him any money to spend?

He'd only spend it on a couple of Burnley players or maybe someone who couldn't get in Wigan's first 11...

i'm not sure it's the brightest thing to say when you're trying to maximise what you get for cahill

Why say anything about finances?

Can't see what it gains you beyond explaining your own failure.

Which doesn't help the club much.

All this about tra la la loan players again worries me. A short term fix generally.

Think that we need a couple of lower division scrappers more than anything else.

Like that Pilkington who was on our doorstep and went to Norwich.

Now they have him to sell for big money.

We have been quietly preparing for the championship since Allardyce left

what, by giving Megson the biggest transfer kitty a manager had had in years in his first window?

damn you and your facts

i'm not sure it's the brightest thing to say when you're trying to maximise what you get for cahill

Completely agree very numb thing to say...nice try owen but it was done no doubt so he could spin the "we were 2nd bottom when we came in, we got good loan signings" lines out it's very transparent - get your act together get some points and shut the fuck up about transfers and money - this great club as you keep calling it has been here before and we can smell the bullshit a mile off
