  • Have we not learnt anything from the Megson/Coyle debate?   Couldn't give a fuck if Jussi is the biggest cunt in the world.   For the record, seen him in the Casino in Bolton twice and he was a go

There were number of occaisions yesterday when we were passing it around , keeping a modicum of possession when we had to go back to the keeper. Every single time he just hoofed it long and we lost

Hazzy - I think there is a difference between a defender playing it long (when the opposition are more stretched thru closing us down) and the goalie when the opposition just set themselves up for a head on a stick to nod it back ..

thought Jussi and Knight both had good games the latter making some good tackles and blocks, of course people on here don't tend to notice that and if they don't rate a player will just focus on his negatives....

as said before, if Jussi doesnt boot it upfield, it just gets passed around the defence..

Sadly, our decline has followed the deterioration in the form of Jussi and Davies. How many points must those two been responsible for winning us during their time at the club? They are damn big boots to fill when they were in their pomp.

totally agree, both are wanderers legends and in the case of skd hes played one season to much for us, its time for others to step up to the table.

Please tell me your taking the piss? Jesus wept...

NO.

Watch other teams. They use the keeper as an outlet much like one of the defenders. It comes back to him down one channel and he switches it up the other channel.

Because there's usually never anything else on!!

Jussi is becoming an easy target really. As mentioned above it was never a free kick in the first place. What it does highlight is the fact that (a) we are too slow getting set up to defend a kick and (B) too quick to let heads go down once (a) has occurred.

and © we cannot defend set pieces.

and ? we cannot defend set pieces.

We used to be great at defending set pieces and at scoring from them. In fact, pundits used to accuse us of just going up field in the hope of picking up a free kick outside the box.

It can, in the main, be put down to coaching skills.

Jussi needs to command his defence more. instead of just standing on his line, he should be telling them what he wants, after all, a defender facing him has his back to the play and needs jussi to be decisive

No, that's mostly about the size of the players. We had one of the biggest teams in the league under Sam Allardyce now they are physically smaller and weaker.

Mind you, Man Utd have a smaller team that aren't as dangerous at set pieces as Stoke but they are a much better team than Stoke.

I know we excel at not defending set pieces, but that's a fucker if we've now copyrighted it.

We might as well make some money somewhere.

Leave Jussi alone he is showing great passion would he great if others showed the same level of desire to win the man is a true professional and a great person.

but declining as a goalie?

so on more than one occasion when he was unable to come off his line quick enough due to his dodgy decision making and lack of pace then cahill and knight have a go at him, hes allowed to let rip at them is he??

get a grip

don't you just love the irony of one of the biggest whingers on the board stating a thread about someone whinging :innocent:

What about under megson?

height is only a part of defending balls into the box

ffs, simon charlton, and even ben haim weren't monsters

knight is 7 foot 8 and can't win a 50/50 in the air or even stand in the right fcuking place

Jussi is a doubt for tomorow.

For the Fletcher goal, I heard it said that we didn't set a high enough line. Also why oh why is Ricketts (who isn't our best in the air) marking Fletcher who Coyle says is their best header of a ball?

Absolutley spot on, the only thing missing from your list is leadership. I think the lack of quality we have only gets blamed after these basics have been sorted out.

He hardly out jumped him, Ricketts just didn't track him

Lack of sharpness can do that and will be punished at this level

As has been mentioned earlier, I've never ever seen a Bolton team that so consistently changes from comfortable possession in midfield to back-passing to Jussi; he then goes long to take the pressure off because none of them have confidence on the ball and there's a lack of basic structure, movement, hard work etc

the atmosphere at home is on a knife edge - imagine Jussi goes short to the full-back whose nervous first touch leads the ball out of play and/or worse to an oppositon striker....the crowd boo.....Jussi turns around and tells them to fuck off.....the crowd boo more.........

It's hardly Jussi's fault and if I were him I'd go long too.......

Jussi actually did play a goal kick out to Steinsson at one point in the Wolves game. Strangely, it also led to nothing.

I honestly think people just like moaning for moaning's sake. Something isn't right at Bolton and people feel the need to show their superior knowledge by pinning it down to one or two players, usually incorrectly. Our team at the moment is built on confidence and we don't have any. Get a couple of wins back-to-back under our belt and we'll be off and running. Even a draw followed by a win might work, hopefully we can get that at Everton tomorrow.
