Pasty barm in these parts coz we don't do pies.

Unless they're dawsons. In which case they're not pies they're culinary delights.

Sjm..... Bar be chick in athy is still there but it's more if a bakery shop now, also stocking dawsons finest. Not sure if they still sell roast chickens.

In fact I once bought a dawsons there and it had a wasp in it. Took it back and they just replaced it. The pie. Not the wasp.

Baker and confectioner? If so, what if someone wants a Blueberry 'thing' or Chocolate chip 'thing'?

Regarding teacake, I was in Dalton-In-Furness recently and was told a flourcake was, in fact, a teacake - I asked her why it had no currants and she replied "what? with chips..?"

It's a barm

And now I feel disgusted in myself.

Oh and the only way to eat a pasty or pie is in a barm, sorry flour cake, sorry muffin.

They missed a golden opportunity to tell you...

Pork pie cobs round here

Pork pie cobs round here

Does that not require a bib of some kind? Crusty bread, crumbly pastry, pork and jelly and the like - sounds beltin' though, maybe with a bit of HP sauce or Piccalilli?

People round there wear bibs to eat anyway.

I worked in Mansfield long enough to notice.

DIversify or die - Yankee Muffins are the future, nah, I suppose the customer is always right...

Speaking of Bury, what's happened there? I had to go into the town centre for the first time in years on Sunday and, I'm sad to say, that it now makes Bolton look like a total and utter hovel...especially as we've added yet another bombsite to our landscape with the demolition of Bolton College. An old part of Townleys has also recently bit the dust I notice.

Isn't Mansfield regarded as the nadir of Yorkshire? Even derided by their fellow Yorkies as backward?

I dated a mare from there for a few years spent some times, still have flashbacks
