January 15, 201214 yr Bronze, 1.5x his size to be built. Good stuff. http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/General/0,,1004~2575776,00.html
January 15, 201214 yr Good to see a dignified amount of time has lapsed prior and what lovely day to announce this.
January 15, 201214 yr Chris Hall ITV: "Bolton Wanderers to build a bronze statue of Nat Lofthouse at the Reebok Stadium. 1.5 times actual size. Announced one year since his death."
January 15, 201214 yr Just got the tweet about it. They want all Wanderers fans to be involved in fundraising for it, which at a time when the team is on it's uppers is one way of galvanizing the supporters and focussing on something postive. I am in!
January 15, 201214 yr went to the service at the reebok today when it was announced,, not one of the players or coyle was there, shows how mutch lofty or what he represented means to them disgusted

I'm in, I'd be proud to not just donate but fundraise for this. Brilliant
January 15, 201214 yr Hope they do him justice. There's enough fuckups with these statues, it cant be that easy to nail.
January 15, 201214 yr So they want us fans to fund it despite most of the players earning in a week what it takes most on here 12 months to earn. I think a few questions need to be asked about the statue and fund, some being what happens to any excess money, who is managing the fund and are they being paid, what designs will be put forward and who will have the final say on design? I don't want to come across as being negative towards the idea of a statue but the I get a feeling that the club are trying to get the fans to pay for something that they should be paying for.
January 15, 201214 yr Reet, I'll get the ball rolling. I'm open to doing a free disco and donation to a decent size club in Bolton, say Dobbies or Rumworth etc as a WW donation towards the statue. Say ?5-?10 a ticket and I'm in, I might even be able to get a Bolton Indie band to play who are quite good And before you all start, well have the music picked by you lot on here before the do. Is the statue not going to be built until supporters raise the money? Or are the club paying for it and then getting what money they can from supporters?

Must admit I'm a little uncomfortable with the thought of the Statue going up at The Reebok if the public are paying for it, as I dont assosiate Nat with either the Reebok or Horwich. Town Centre precinct if the public pay, Reebok if the club pay.

Town Centre precinct if the public pay, Reebok if the club pay. Have you been in Bolton town centre recently? It'd not last a week & many Bolton fans wouldnt see it as I doubt many venture to the precinct often. Also, why Reebok? They only sponsor the ground and that probably won't be for long. I doubt their CEO has ever heard of Nat Lofthouse, Edited January 15, 201214 yr by no balls

Town Centre precinct if the public pay, Reebok if the club pay. That's a good point. If the fans are expected to raise the money there should be a poll on where it will go up.

January 15, 201214 yr No one is being forced to contribute. If you don't want to chip in, then don't. You'd think there'd be enough to complain about with the team being shit, but no, let's complain about a statue being outside the club too. I'd imagine the family have been asked and have consented to this and its position. You have to think, why bother?
