Where ever we play our home games is Nat's spiritual home, I'm sure had he not been so humble and agreed to a statue whilst he was alive, he would have wanted it to be at the Reebok. I also think Nat's family will have had their say and that's good enough for me. As for it being paid for by the fans, I think the club would happily pay for it, but it's seen as a good thing to get the people of Bolton involved to remember someone who represented the people of Bolton so well.

This is a positive announcement on the right day to make it and people still find something to have a good moan about. If we where to have strippers at half time of every home game, folk would still complain their tits wern't big enough.

Real Bolton fans would chip in.

Ok then, let's have it outside The Castle on Tonge Moor Road, afterall, it was his area and home. For Gods sake

Enter Bolty

None of you fcukers will be entering Bolty any time soon, I can tell thee.

The statue has to be at the stadium.

Because Nat had absolutley no connection at all with Horwich, there should be a statue of Tony Caldwell or somone with a connection to RMI in Horwich.

Fred Dibnah's statue went up in the town centre which is where Nat's should go up so the people of Bolton (not Horwich) can cherish it.If Bolton still played at Burnden Park, there would be no issue it should go up at Burnden that was Nat's spiritual home.

Do you actually believe the shit you write?

nat would of been proud of the club and stadium in his later years.playing at one of the best looking stadiums in england, not the hell hole that was burnden park with a fucking supermarket on the end.

you think nat's memeory only means something to the people of bolton? well im not from bolton, but am a very proud bolton fan,and respect nats memory just as much as any other bolton fan no matter where they are from.

theres bolton fans on here from all over the gaff for god sake.

why would you put the statue in the town center, when half the folks passing it dont support bolton?

nat was special to bolton wanderers and should be respected at bolton wanderers f.c.

If the club don't pay for it I don't think they should automatically have it in Horwich. It should go to a public vote where it is put up if the public pay for it.If the public vote for it to go up in Horwich then fair enough.

The notrights and dingles would get involved in the vote and it would end up on't moors next hill along to the pike.

No point arguing- raise shit loads and buy 2

1st one at ground, second wherever....

This really is great news. Well done to all for getting this going.

For all of us to have a chance to contribute is also a great touch.

I will be proud and humbled to know that I (along with many fellow Boltonians and Wanderers fans) have contributed to the long lasting memory of Bolton's greatest son.

Looking forward to the community getting together to get behind this wonderful project.

when i take franny Jr to the match years down the line i will show him the statue of the great man and tell him the tales that i know with our stadium in the background all as part of the matchday experience, i cant see me going to take him to the town centre and doing the same with the jeremy kyle clan in the background outside the pound bakery in their grey trackies

Is this an early entry for cretinous post of the year 2012 or a late entry for 2011?

Great news, no bother at all chucking into the pot. Thanks for the link Homer.

It really doesn?t seem like a year since Nat passed away.

Oh how we could have done with the likes of him on Saturday. Hope the statue that is being proposed is big enough to show how much of an impact he had on our club and on our country. It should be positioned in a central place too, main entrance at the Reebok not tucked away. The memory of his contribution to our club and the send off we gave him last January will last in my mind forever. Rest in peace Nat.

third rate club ,if they had anything about em the club would have paid for the statue and it would have been unveiled yesterday ,,nice to see manager and players were to busy to attend yesterday ,, 70 people there, not bad from one of the countrys biggest towns ,

I drove past the statue of Tom Finney yesterday and its a belter, its taken from the famous picture where Finney was dancing across a waterlogged pitch, the statue is in the middle of a fountain depicting the water on the pitch.

That's a cracking statue. The sculptor who made that one also did the Stan Mortensen statue at Bloomfield Road.

As for it being paid for by the fans, I think the club would happily pay for it, but it's seen as a good thing to get the people of Bolton involved to remember someone who represented the people of Bolton so well.

Exactly. I don't know why some people think the club won't be contributing anything, I'm sure the playing and coaching staff will be making a sizeable donation.

The 70 people were at a service in Horwich though not Bolton.Horwich people are apathetic to Bolton legends like Bolton people are apathetic to legends from other towns.Nat should be remembered in Bolton where he is loved by the masses. We saw how much Nat is loved in Bolton by the numbers around Churchgate and the Parish Church this time last year.Nat never played or managed outside Bolton and it's natural that Bolton is where he is loved.

So, are you going to tell the class what someone from Horwich did to break your heart or are you just an utter balloon?
