A) he was Bolton Wanderers through and through, you put the statue outside the ground of the team he loved, anywhere else is ridiculous, half the town don't even support Bolton

B) how much does a statue cost? In any case, I'm not paying for it, cheeky twats

how much does a statue cost?

About ?200K.

Bronze, 1.5x his size to be built. Good stuff.

They better fasten it down or those pikeys / travellers / romany folk * will have it away

*delete as appropriate

Ok then, let's have it outside The Castle on Tonge Moor Road, afterall, it was his area and home. For Gods sake

Enter Bolty

Fuck the players and club, he's our man, the working class hero

Wonder what the statue will be like, Nat holding the F.A Cup?, with a foot on the ball in his Bolton kit? not that it really matters as long as it's a good job.

should incorporate some goals and harry gregg on his arse

1. The club should pay for it. The club, but not the players. The current bunch of miscreants (possibly excluding KD, Ricardo & Jussi) won't have any affinity with the great man.

2. It has to be outside whichever location is our home ground.

3. Don't let that fucker who did the "Dibnah" anywhere near it.

4. It mustn't be fenced off or placed in an inaccessible loation, like that stupid fishtail on the Scotts roundabout.

Good article here about the Stanley Mathews statue

http://www.bbc.co.uk/stoke/content/articles/2006/04/20/making_stanley_matthews_statue_feature.shtml

Its great news I am pleased that we the fans can donate to the building of the statue it is a way of showing our great respect, if you dont want to donate then fair enough, just by chance I drove past the statue of Tom Finney yesterday and its a belter, its taken from the famous picture where Finney was dancing across a waterlogged pitch, the statue is in the middle of a fountain depicting the water on the pitch.

ive just heard ballotelli has offered to pay for it.

The club should pay for it and there shouldn't be even a debate about it.

Contributions from anyone else could be seen as advertising (if individuals or companies are mentioned) which is not what it is about, it's about Nat.

So they want us fans to fund it despite most of the players earning in a week what it takes most on here 12 months to earn.

I think a few questions need to be asked about the statue and fund, some being what happens to any excess money, who is managing the fund and are they being paid, what designs will be put forward and who will have the final say on design?

I don't want to come across as being negative towards the idea of a statue but the I get a feeling that the club are trying to get the fans to pay for something that they should be paying for.

you're coming across as being negative, whether you want to or not

That's got potential!

Very good Satan, but a statue featuring any recognition of the shite at OT is a non starter for me, the one for me would be Nat being held aloft with the FA Cup safe in his hands, please please let it be that iconic photograph.

I don't think the club should pay for it at all. If anyone at the club wants to chip in then fair enough. Whatever little I can give I will be able to say I was a part of it, not the club. It should be a fans statue end of. Future Wanderers fans can look upon it as there's instead of something the club gave.

As it looks like the fans will be coughing up for it it would be nice to know what we are paying for. There's 3 or 4 very good images of Nat that would make a good statue.

The statue should be at the Reebok and anyone who thinks different wants a check up from the neck up.

I don't know who should be commissioned to do the thing, but I know the person who did Dibnah's should be given a wide birth.

If the club don't pay for it I don't think they should automatically have it in Horwich. It should go to a public vote where it is put up if the public pay for it.If the public vote for it to go up in Horwich then fair enough.

Why?

It's Nat, Mr Bolton Wanderers it should be at the ground, if you had a public vote you'd get some nobs voting for it to be int bread isle at Asda at burnden

The man deserves the best we can give I will happily chuck in for it,

Why?

Because Nat had absolutley no connection at all with Horwich, there should be a statue of Tony Caldwell or somone with a connection to RMI in Horwich.

Fred Dibnah's statue went up in the town centre which is where Nat's should go up so the people of Bolton (not Horwich) can cherish it.If Bolton still played at Burnden Park, there would be no issue it should go up at Burnden that was Nat's spiritual home.
