gonzo
local boozers intrigue me. often the heartbeat of comunities. collections of like minded people all drawn together, for one simple reason...supping ale. people that in any other walk of life would probably have nowt to do with eachother, but becasue you like a beer in a pub,you become pub-friends.... so whats your local? how far is it from your house? what are the charachters in there? is the ale ok? my local is the golden eagle, about 10 minutes walk. its a proper mons pub, full of tea time tradesmen and the ilk. its a john barras 2 meals for ?9 on the eating side, but the pub has a healthy vaults, pool table, big screens everywhere, dart board etc. kev the landlord is superb, runs all sorts, season footy envelopes,on running prediction league, trips out,and even brings out trays of burgers and tater ash on a sunday for the packed vaults. all kinds of frammed footy stuff (including 2 of our very own signed bolton ones) adorn the walls.hes a munich, but he alreet for one of them,he created scouse corner where all liverpool fans have to sit! plenty of idiots in there....eric the ship,he drives p&o ferrys, falls asleep in his pints every friday and saturday night having done in about 14 pints easy.then theres harry, absolute looncan, pissed of 4 pints, but then does in another 10 and repeats himself alot! theres 'blower' permantly high on life itself, plus other intoxicants, once was still that fucked on a sunday morning he came in the pub dressed as geri spice, union jack dress the lot...just for a laugh like! theres russ the ex bent copper, these people keep turning up in taxis to speak to him...must be popular. theres taz the barber, only does skinheads, permantly stonned and smashed on magners. and then theres the last hour merchants...including my dad,his satsuma mate ray,roy and jean the happy caravaners, and councilor tony williams, who used to be in the band steelers wheel....they spend a full hour moaning about the pub, moaning about the prices, moaning about the landlord...and then say 'see you all tomorrow!' kev does nights like the eagle oscars night, everyone in black tie etc,all locals awards like biggest moaner, pisshead, best couple etc...when my leg was broke i won best cripple! theres also australia night, eagles not got talent. anytime theres a night like this on,its on another level.... i took my pretty liberal mate in there for the first time during one these parties, and he came to after an hour and 'mate, ive been in here an hour and had an E,crowd surfed, and had shot of tit milk'!! ....classy i know. so whats your local all about?? Gonk
My Fridge. It's in my house, so not far at all. It tends to be quiet most weekdays Ale's OK, depends what's on offer at the supermarket
peebles
The Castle on Tonge Moor Road. Stopped going in a few years ago because of young idiots casing mahem. Started going back in as they seem to have drifted off (probably onto the brown stuff). It's mainly an older crowd of complete pisscans mainly but you get good craic once they get to know & trust you. Steve the landlord looks after the ale very well & the Holts cask bitter just glides down (?1.89 a pint too). You can also get 3 cask bottles for a fiver if you fancy a change. Quiz nights on Tuesday are supposed to be a good laugh but I don't drink on school nights. Karaoke on Sunday is the highlight of the week with the meat draw, pick a number etc. I go in later and there are some wrecks who've been in there far too long. They have the footy on & there's a big mural on Nat Lofhouse in the games room. Surprised at how many were in shouting for United t'other week but sign of the times I suppose. It is a proper community pub & well worth a 2nd chance if you live round that way.

no balls
I have phases of going to the pub loads then not at all. There's 2 pubs I go in mainly. They're both proper blokes drinking pubs, always got the fooball on, don't sell food other than crisps and always with the same old bloke at the end of the bar. One's the nearest to me (used to be an old hippy/biker pub), but my favourite one is only a 10 minute walk (5 if you're anybody of a normal leg length). It was lovingly known as the Champagne Tent years ago, it was that rough. It's nice though as there's always blokes in I've known all my life, my age, and older & even though I think I'm proper sophisticated there's nothing nicer & more comforting than having a chinwag with people you've known forever about absolutely nothing. frank_spencer
Used to be the Blue Bell and we'd be in most Friday evenings. Twas run by a lezzer couple and was always a good laugh full of your typical pub characters and Tu the Chinese fella with his dodgy dvds and porn for sale. The landladies moved on to pastures new. It went shit everyone stopped going in and it ended up getting shut down. Now I go to the trackside in town if I want to go to the pub but normally I just stay home. Juan.Kerr
Brooklyn. Advertise football but I went in after QPR I heard that they couldn't get it on. And it's freezing in the afternoons, but it's in the best hands now since Roger and Janet. Dukes Gate. Always have some football on, now that's a decent pub, but my favourite at the moment is the Bridgewater (aka Stonehill). Couldn't get Sra. Kerr to goin, mind. Site Supporter Winchester White Posted March 16, 2012 Site Supporter Share Posted March 16, 2012 Nearest is Top Spinners but I prefer The Cardwell or Bottom Spinners (Oh matron!). If I am lucky enough to enjoy a pint on a Friday after work then its the Long Pull (Flea Pit). Not that I get out much these days!
Breightmet Boy
Black Horse on Bury Road, dearest pub ont road but a great crowd. Carling Extra Cold ?3.10 a pint, which has made a few of the lads drift off to Halliwell Road but still we have a laugh. My local used to be The Hare and Hounds which is two mins from our gaff, loved the place and many a mental night was had in there, and I mean mad
