June 26, 201214 yr I don't normally partake but after a little jaunt to Booths, I've ended up with a few bottles of Liefmans fruit beer staring at me. Is supping at home acceptable or the cul de sac to ruinsville? Discuss....
June 26, 201214 yr It depends. If you sup till you start shouting at the TV then yes.its ruinsville for you. If its just a one off because you fancied a certain drink in a powsh shop then y'alreet. The middle ground of 'x' amount of cans a night, every night is a slippery slope in my eyes. Personally I only drink during the week on very rare occasions but thats because I would rarely stop at 1 glass of wine with my meal id smash 3 bottles in.
June 26, 201214 yr Each to their own, but I don't see the point, unless you've got company of course.
June 26, 201214 yr It helps me to unwind and relax, but i don't make a habit of drinking at wom midweek.

June 26, 201214 yr Started in the early to mid 90's as we got into our mid 30's and the pubs became so much more expensive than the supermarkets and we couldnt be arsed going out as much with a new young un that arrived in 1995. Back then you could buy decent wine for ?1.99 a bottle and gradually my love of beer turne to wine. We cut down a few years ago when we found we were going through 20 bottles a week between two of us. Best to keep it to weekends and England games only. It can become a habit very easily, as my little sister has found out who is now a full blown committed alcoholic.
June 26, 201214 yr I don't think it's a problem if people replace say a cup of tea/coffee/fizzy drink etc with a drink of alcohol at their home, what I don't get (easy I guess, coming from a non drinker) is when people drink a can/glass of it one after another or you see a huge pile of empty cans in the kitchen for example. Like open a can, finish it, open another one; repeat. Unless you're really thirsty, why do you need alcohol so badly? surely if it's the taste you like, you don't need to drink alcohol so frequently, if it's both the taste and getting drunk, why do you need to get drunk in your home? Is it just for the addictive effect, does it help you sleep? forget your troubles? what difference/advantages does being drunk in your home provide?, People who pay a lot of money for a crate full of beer or expensive bottles of wine/vodka etc do you not feel like you could spend that on something else? alcohol isn't good for you and drinking them all in one go just seems completely pointless, seems fine to me though if that crate lasts several nights and only a replacement for like I said before a cup of tea, because of the taste. June 26, 201214 yr Author Right, I've opened a bottle. LW & Didle's thinking it's pointless has probably pushed me into it. Oh and it's jolly nice. There was a Raspberry Saltaire Brewery beer in Booths too. Anyone tried? Edited June 26, 201214 yr by no balls
June 26, 201214 yr Going off topic slightly, visited the Fulwood Booth's last week. Noticed these range of pies http://www.pieminister.co.uk/pies/pm-originals Fancy the Matador one. We need a Booths in Bolton IMO

We need a Booths in Bolton IMO Steady on, they've only just got used to not having a Hanbury's in town. I don't think Bolton is ready for Booth's philosophy Fulwod one used to be my old haunt. Have they got the fancy new fridges with glass doors at that one yet? Chorley one has. Very odd, but looks good & is presumably more environmentlally friendly.

I've just changed my mind and cracked open a bottle of absinthe.
June 26, 201214 yr I'm the reverse due to my job mainly, but I don't drink at the weekends due to looking after kids, midweek it's shows or media lunches and this industry is run on getting decent rates over slightly lubricated lunches. Mind you, the only time I can afford a beer is when work is paying nowadays!
June 26, 201214 yr When I visited my GP last week he was astounded by the amount I sup. Remember talking to the landlord of the Sunnyside, he had been to the drs who asked him "how much he drank?" About 15 pints Frank said "Thats not too bad about 2 pints a day" No 15 pints a night said Frank.
