MalcolmW Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 The funniest moment I'vee seen so far was some numpty interviewing Cav some time after the finish of the road race. The interviewer said something like "Do you think it was just too soon after the Tour de France?". Cav stared at him in utter disbelief and said "You don't know anything about cycling, do you?" and walked off. Quote

Sums up the coverage really - most of these BBC types don't even know the sports they specialise in very well. Stick them elsewhere and they're hopeless. As for newspaper coverage of cycling; clueless. Cav was odds against on Saturday, and then gets slaughtered for not winning. Quote
Guest Frandsen08 Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 a lot of the reporters i have seen I've spent time thinking, didn't you used to present blue peter? Quote
no balls Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 They really should get John McDonald to do the medal announcing. And Jim White to do the studio stuff. Quote

maaarsh Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Getting well in to the sailing - my flatmate did a 4 day race to the far side of Ireland and back in May so has been providing expert commentary - and at least they have regular turns to make it clear who's winning. Quote

Although that may have been case and the reporter was out of his depth, I doubt there was any need for Cavendish to act like a cnut about it. Edited July 30, 2012 by bwfcdan Quote
no balls Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Bit of Cross-Country. Love this. Now that I couldn't watch. There's a fell runner in it from Orridge ghetto isn't there? 36 or some other really ancient age. Called Stuart, I think. Quote
Traf Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Stuart from Horwich? Sounds like a proper queer. Quote
Zico Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 (edited) she did well to get 3rd, the 800m is the event we should be expecting her to get gold in she did, more so when you consider her bronze medal 2012 time was 0.21 seconds faster then her gold medal 2008 time! also, despite the obvious, the womens beach volleyball was a good watch yesterday Edited July 30, 2012 by ZicoKelly Quote
jayjayoghani Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 she's also still the WR holder in the 800m Quote
Guest bwfcdan Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Good start to the cross-country for GB. Day 3 as a whole seems to have bed pretty good so far for us! Hopefully a few more medals this afternoon!!! Quote
Guest bwfcdan Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Christ that Zoe Smith looks a strong lass. Quote
maaarsh Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Smith leading in the weightlifting!! I'm not watching, but seeing as the best lifers start last, more or less everyone should be in the lead at the end of their series. Quote

The best of them start this afternoon. She's finished second in her group which means she should be good for a top 10 finish which is brilliant considering she's only 18. Plus she's got a new British record. Well done to her! Quote
