Carlos Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 The Black Horse, used to be my local, 20+ years ago. Not too rough. My dentist is next door, oddly they give their address as Breightmet??? There is no pub near The Starkie, and that's a double fact. Castle, Bowling Green or Lord Clyde. Went in there once, never again... Quote
DazBob Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I don't know. Maybe I was a bit rash calling them scutters, but the thing is, no matter when I drive past it always seems to have piss heads standing out ide. Having said that, the landlord must be doing something right, as he seems to have the custom. It's good to see a pub thriving these days, it doesn't happen anywhere near enough Beep. Beep. Beep. Quote
Traf Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Beep. Beep. Beep. Like an Italian tank. Quote
Breightmet Boy Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 what's the other one on Bury Rd, inbetween Ainsworth Lane and Crompton Way? - When ever I drive past it always seems to be rammed with scutters getting pissed I beg your bloody pardon, we all work hard and deserve our swill. Every trade going in that boozer, it's a belter. Quote
Happy Wanderer Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 My dentist is next door, Mine too, I wondered why he always looks down in the mouth, now I know why. Quote

Black Un's always been awreet. Loyal clientele there been frequenting the place for years. Went in a couple of years back with a couple of mine and Zulu's mutual friends. One lad called Sandy, a proper Whites fan, wanders over from the bar and says to me, 'Ow do P. Not seen thee for a while'. 'Aye mate, I emigrated to Oz 23 years ago!' 'Geddaway!' Quote

bolty58 Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Top man Sandy, very popular chap indeed. Went to skoo with my (slightly mad) younger brother. Great mates (along with Stag, Jacko, Fulty and a few others you may know). Quote
peebles Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 The BEN's report it on. http://www.thebolton...is_shut/?ref=mr Brilliant, just brilliant. Where do the BN find such ground-breaking, incisive and investigative journos who demand answers from the tough questions?? "Regulars who turned up found the pub closed and went to another nearby pub instead." and... One local resident said: “Everything was fine at the pub last night. “Nobody seems to know what has happened — it must have happened after the pub shut.” He added: “The police came to the pub at about 10am this morning. It looks serious but no one seems to know what has happened. It is a nice pub.” Another regular said: “I hope it re-opens soon.” Anewman's post is much more incisive. FWIW the Landlady is a bit of a looker. Sorry no pics. Quote

leigh white Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 My last stint in the Starkie was a drink with my mate Gubbin's after a shift in the nearby streets and seeing some jailbate lying on the pool table facing us showing her knickers. Quote

Carlos Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Apart from the hairdressers/barbers opposite the army store. I reckon he's a gayer, but he's alreet, plays good tunes and you can have a beer or a capri-sun along with your haircut for £8. Right, I've been there, can't complain for £8. Even if I now look like an Emo. Quote
DazBob Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Right, I've been there, can't complain for £8. Even if I now look like an Emo. Good stuff, he's back from his hols then? I went up Friday afternoon and shop was shut so had to go to that butcher (Craig?) next to Homemakers. Quote
no balls Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Good stuff, he's back from his hols then? I went up Friday afternoon and shop was shut so had to go to that butcher (Craig?) next to Homemakers. There's a good one in the town centre, down the side of Hitchens I think. Some Turkish bloke, or one them types. Well, so I'm told. He's gotto be better than a butcher or a bloke that makes you look like an Emo. Quote

DazBob Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Not been to Craig's since I was at school! The new bloke definately holidays in Mykonos. Yep, I have little doubt. He'd told me he was going away to 'somewhere in Greece' during September ... on his own. Seems a decent chap though. Quote
Carlos Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 (edited) Aye. Offered me a drink. Questionable whether it would be laced with Rohypnol. Edited September 26, 2012 by Carlos Quote
DazBob Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Aye. Offered me a drink. Questionable whether it would be laced with Rohypnol. I've been going for about a year and never accepted one yet Quote
enzo gambaro Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 I've heard the bloke who's been running the Ainsworth into the ground since Tony sold up is upping sticks and moving to the Starkie. And yes, he will almost certainly be known as the darky in the Starkie. Them as had Arkwright's are going to the Ainsworth. Quote
Sweep Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Do you mean the Black Horse? Looks like a locals pub, but yes, there's too many 3/4 length panted men outside. Did I see that the Black Horse is up for Sale/Lease when I drove past the other week, or did I imagine it? Quote

Aye i've heard that rumour.I think the only way the gaff would do well is if someone followed The Brewery Taps lead.ie - Proper ale/Nicely fitted out/No scrotes etc. Edited October 15, 2012 by Burndens Bogs Quote
