My season tickets been on hold and I`ve only been once this season and I`m now looking forward to the season kick starting.   We shall soon find out if Coyle`s poor management was the problem after

enjoyed the game yesterday, thought for the first half 25 mins we looked nervous silly free kick we gave away that led to the corner for the goal and silly error for the penalty, same old story, but when we scored we grew in confidence. Second half we came out and bossed it, thought the football we played for the two goals was superb, that touch of Petrov before finishing was as good as you'll see anywhere.

Spearing was superb yet again, Like the look of Warnock, wasnt convinced when we loaned him, happy to be proved wrong, Afobe had a good game and SKD showed some good touches, If we continue like that second half then we will be reet this season whoever comes in as a manager has a great team around them in Phillips, Darby and Lee.

SJM full of optimism again.

c'mon

i'm happy to be convinced, but i say nowt to suggest he's an arsenal player

in fact, if somebody said obadeyi was on the pitch, i'd not have been shocked

he did alreet, Arsenal class not a fooking chance

Really enjoyed the game yesterday, first home game of the season as I have been working away. Went into the ESL under the scoreboard for a change.

Only disappointment was seeing the Reebok so empty. Also got tickets for Cardiff, but I bet there will be even fewer there for a 5.30 kick off and televised game.

IThen, as others have said, there was a late season game in 89/90 with Bristol City chasing promotion when they brought thousands and there was all kinds of trouble.

I remember that day. Sat in the Cattle Market with my dad and watching a bar stool fly backwards and forwards past the doorway.

For some reason I also think I remember Bob Taylor having a fitness test on the pitch for them before the game..? He was top of the goalscoring charts iirc.

Afobe and ream were poor

Everyone else played very well, even mears was much improved

Afobe was better in 2nd half, seemed to have a role (not just a passenger)

Will Ream make it?

Well we have all seen very different games then because my take from the WSU with Gumbo was:

Very similar to under OC for the most part - some decent passing and when we get it right our "star" players are a class apart, but its underpinned by defensive frailties and nerves.

A few mentions:

I actually thought Afobe was very good; strong, intelligent running and good pace - his best game for me and more of a threat than what I've seen from Sordell. Like N'Gog though, I'm unsure if he's a goalscorer

SKD seemed full of beans; very lively

M Davies anonymous. I'm going off him as the weeks pass...Spearing the glue that held us together; a lovely footballer all in all. He won't make it at Liverpool though

Warnock was solid; Mills is soft in the challenge for a big fucker; Mears very average - he's ok going forward but defends like Glen Johnson and Ream is just calamitous; I thought he'd given away ANOTHER pen after the one he did. He may be quick but I'd have Knight over him all day long

Eagles; I actually thought he was very poor for the main part, but when he's good at this level he's different class....I just wonder is he believing his own hype too much, hence bad decision making - like showboating at 2-2 the daft cunt

Petrov; started dreadfully, perhaps rusty, perhaps pissed off, but played his way into the game nicely

I thought the main difference from under OC was the spirit; both on and off the pitch. The crowd didn't get on top too much when we were losing, allowing the players to still play without fear and they responded well

I have to say, I think Jimmy "got away" with some of the switches he was making in the second half and it turned out nice, but you won't get away with playing pretty much 4-2-4 for a spell and Wolves. It was a bit shit or bust and you always felt we'd win. A real test of his mettle will be Tuesday....not sure quite how much they can have drilled into them in a week, but I was hoping for more "organisation" and less being at 6's and 7's. to be fair, as Gumbo said, they'd had the equivalent of per-season organisation in the week, so perhaps too early to judge

To be convinced

I sat right at the top f the north stand, up there you see it all, and we are very very slow, that's why we give so many penalties because the strikers are sharper. Mears is pure fuckin dogshit, eagles is a fanny, ream needs to gt in the gym, m Davies needs to drop a few pounds, bogdan needs Fred barber, we need confidence which was lacking until eagles scored then we battered them, was never in doubt we would win

I saw that, what was he chucked out for?

Celebrating from what i saw.

Poor lad was getting a right bollocking of his mother outside too, bad day for him!

The stewarding in wsl is getting ridiculous. He was a easy target, certain others have never been touched for far worse.

we're watching different games

eagles was generally excellent

a class apart

ps eagles is a tart

That's the first game I've seen in months and we are nowhere near as good as we were under megson

I think he can be at times

But overall I think he did alot of poor things on Saturday to be honest

He's been our best player by a mile overall this season though.

i agree his decision making is sometimes dodgy

but, the upsides generally outweigh this

said before, we could play a keeper, 9 defenders + eagles and win more than coyle would have won

he wasn't mom though...

again...

ffs

yea likewise its my 1st game this season (i'll say it shit fan before anybody else does )aint been on w ways for a bit. figure you can't really comment if you aint been to the game but from what i've read previously was expecting to see a right load of shite but must admit was pleasantly surprised with some of our passing we looked pretty slick in parts but as some have said defensively we look very sloppy if we don't get that sorted there is no chance of us going up this season

Don't think I've seen the answer anywhere (skipping through the Scotts shite), was Knight dropped or injured?

SKD for me

Won't argue with that

FFS

At least put a bomb.gif after that comment.

Well done BTW eventually, all though I was there, I didn't see it, too busy at the time myself

Our defence should improve when wheater is back..whenever that is. Ream and Knight are liabilities

Don't think I've seen the answer anywhere (skipping through the Scotts shite), was Knight dropped or injured?

I heard a rumour he was late and so was not included also heard he left the ground in a huff, also saw Alonso leave the hotel at 2pm is he injured or was he dropped as well?

Get a grip you dry lunch, I was happier with John McGovern than I was under Megson ;-)

to drop knight for ream is a comical decision if true (and i dont think it is)

knight has been our best defender by a mile this season.

ream is terrible as a defender. but decent as a footballer

i thought mills did well on sat, because hes been terrible for the most part.

M Davies anonymous. I'm going off him as the weeks pass...Spearing the glue that held us together; a lovely footballer all in all. He won't make it at Liverpool though

Showed for everything, had more touches than anyone else on the pitch, only gave the ball away two or three times all afternoon.

Anonymous was the one thing he wasn't.

Should have scored, though.

Most people on here wont like this but we missed Knight particularly in the air , he is a better leftsided defender than Ream , Wheater is also better than Mills so role on full fitness ,

Thought JP got his tactic spot on second half with Afobe going out wider & letting Eagles get more involved centre midfield , this gave us more control

& gave more support to KD who was giving the centre-backs a mauling

Thought mears had his best game so far, not that I'd pick him .

Can't see us conceding less than two a game with that centre-back combo though a returning Zat might limit the damage a little
