  • Nowt as exciting as any of this. Just, boring, everyday, unhappy breakdown of a marriage that goes on for a long time before the final nail of ending it.   In this case it was the usual of I fell in

Did anyone play echo guitar? or was just him?

What was that shite Liam did with Steve Craddock??

Carnation was it???

Don't be mentioning that dickwad on this thread, please thankyou.

I'm sure I'm going to get slated now but I like the Style Council stuff. More suited to my ears.

Of course you are (mostly) right

He has done good work elsewhere

Liam did a cover of Carnation, cant remember if Craddock was on it, now I dont mind Liam but it was a pisspoor cover. There was an album of different artists covering The Jam if I remember correctly...

info of the night. One for the twats....

Sonik Kicks -- Weller latest album beat david guetta to number 1 by 2500 copies.

Clearly not enough smack heads in the world

Loved it Loved it Loved it.

Worth the licence fee....

Bring on the next part....

All great songs. But when you're a youngster the early stuff just hit the spot..........."All around the world i've been lookin' for yoooooo"

Fuck i wish it was 1978 again :D

You're not wrong, The Jam were my first 'proper' band and in my all time top 3. I was just into Style Council as well.

Same as J but The Jam are in the top 1....

...and they say WWayers have no taste. Top drawer Weller - solo, Style Council, wherever. The Jam will never be bettered though.

"We don't need no one to tell us what's right or wrong..........."

Homo commenting on a proper music thread?

He'll be telling us his wife has stopped buying his clothes next!

You feeling ok Dave?

Hes on a football special to the match today aswell! :D

Good couple of hours TV last night. Agree with Bolty Weller/Jam Top draw. Off to see From the Jam 1st December in Clitheroe (3rd time iv'e seen them) OK not the same without Weller, but Russel Hastings on vocals does justice to the songs. Foxton is still quality on bass. Go see them if you like the Jam, It's always a sell out and great to hear all the old tunes.

I know how much of a legend he is, but I just dont 'get' Paul Weller.

Tried and tried to get into his stuff, but it just feels flat, and boring.

Now The Jam, I know are mega.

Bit of therapy required mate. Just imagine Wellers drummer has hub caps for cymbals and the music will be transformed for you.

I saw The Jam 7 times,Style Council 3 times and From The Jam twice.

Could never get into his solo stuff.

As previously said, From The Jam are great to see if you were into The Jam, and yes as Eavesy asks would it make the same impact as it did then I'm sure it would.

Punk broke the mould after years of turgid dross music. Weller grabbed punk by the bollocks and moved things back to clean cut sharp dressing.

At his best as an angry young man.

Weller is class, I'd love to have a beer with him, I'd even throw in some scampi fries.

Nice one Mr B. :good:

Went to see From the Jam last Saturday who did a quality set, with loads of new stuff including tracks from Bruce Foxton's new album Back in the Room, Which features Paul Weller playing on three tracks, and also recorded at Paul's studio. Since Bruce's wife died He and Paul seem to have got a lot closer and both have now featured on each others projects. they've Also done a couple of gigs together (one at the Albert hall & one for a local charity in their former home town in Surrey). I don't think The lads will ever get back together as a threesome to write and record new material under the old banner. But I wouldn't in the least bit surprise'd if Mr Weller and Mr Foxton (including Rick) did some live gigs at some point in the future?. More likely both appearing as guests at each others gigs. But a full jam re-union concert? I would pay good money and walk to Wembley stadium or were ever they may be to see it. Can't believe it's been 35 years since In The City was released.

Can't stand The Jam.

Hate Paul Weller's solo stuff with a passion.

Not my cup of tea but I can respect him greatly as a musician.

Badly needs to sort out his haircut though. Looks a bit like a dad trying and failing to be cool.

Weller appears to have stolen Paul Calf's wig. :)

Edit: Fastest fingered again :(

I never really got into The Jam, a bit too punky for me. The Mod style obviously attracted people of the Mod persuasion. Much preferred his work with Dee C Lee. More soulful.
