There was a big scandal a couple of years back about him being paid, he was the only presenter that did get paid. He might have waived it since the story broke... thing is with his £800k a year he was earning from the BBC, he probably over-looked the fee...

we had some young kids in work yesterday meeting some of the players,and having a kickabout with some of them, the players give them all sorts of gifts and such but to meet some kids who wont even see their tenth birthday due to terminal illnesses, it was heartbreaking
