jules_darby Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Dunno but there was one over by the hippodrome in benidorm in the 90's Happy hardcore was fingering music of choice Quote
bolty58 Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 (edited) Bank St. is correct. Someone needs to do a historical check on the bad fire there (when it was The Cromwellian I think?) where people leapt to their death into the Croal to escape the flames. A number died that night. Mid to late 60's I think? Think it became the Beachcomber later. Early 70's, a bouncer there died after being stabbed. The lad who went down for it was well known in the Lever End and around town at all the right places. Major shock. Hell of a nice bloke. Edit - should have read the article first. Some reference to the history in there. Edited December 11, 2012 by bolty58 Quote
Baba O'Riley Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 The Who played at Bolton Institute of Technology Casino Club on Tuesday April 22nd 1969, and performed the whole of Tommy for the very first time in public. My brother was there. Quote
Baba O'Riley Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 They did play the Leigh Beachcomber club on January 30th 1966, so perhaps Billy dropped a few too many Dexadrines in '65 and slept through from July to December, and woke up in a different town. And Carlos, spot on re. Bury also, played The Palais May 12 1965, and Rawtenstall Astoria Ballroom 22 May 1965. Quote
Carlos Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I'm going off my mum's info, 1969 was after her time so good info Baba. Fucking Rawstenstall! Quote
gonzo Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Did that Fluid club end up being a gaff full of stripy jumper crew that played Wigan Pier/Bowlers type stuff around 2002?? Quote
