  1. First team at home against Palace in League Cup at same time, figures…
  2. Subway to Hillhead, good pubs along Byers Road and Ashton Lane, Curler’s Rest and Tennent’s Bar - last bar in Glasgow to admit women.
  3. The World Cup: A Captain’s Tale, starring and largely funded by Dennis Waterman - don’t think he sang the theme tune though…. On You Tube or DVD direct from West Auckland FC club shop.
  4. Interesting….. reason I said it is I was mascot for the game vs Bradford City, 27th March 1984 (lost 2-0, great mascot) and I couldn’t buy a replica kit from the Happy Shop and had to make do with the cheap replacement. Suppose they could have been limited availability and sold out that late in the season. And no, the Club didn’t provide a kit, had to supply your own!
  5. Pretty certain we did not sell a replica kit at this time, which suggests it is match worn but not by the 1st team. There was a very cheap looking version of the home shirt available at the Happy Shop without the Umbro branding or shirt sponsor, and with “Bolton Wanderers FC” around the badge in red.
  6. Sorry it was doing my head in, had to flip it!
  7. Certainly did, from running three pubs in town in the 50’s and 60’s, drumming in the Palais band and doing National Service, a good few tales from the Burnden days and a life well lived, miss him every day, a proper character and a gent.
  8. I believe it was his mate ‘Podge’, but cannot fathom how he thought that would be a good thing to try in the first place, shudder to think, apart from being skint and necessity being the mother of invention 😆
  9. Moss St Baths late 1940s my dad used to tell a tale about Bryl Creem dispensers, cost a tanner or so for a glob out of a machine, but the lads realised you could suck it out the machine for nowt. He lived to be 87 so no long term harm done but the thought alone makes me gag.
  10. @SatanGreavsie - check your inbox mate 👍
  11. Late brother sang a version “all the lads and lasses tying up their laces, walking down the Manny Road to kick ‘em in the faces”. ‘‘Twas the 70s after all….
  12. R Dean Taylor (There’s a Ghost in My House….)
  13. Really sad news. RIP Neil and thanks for this place.
  14. 👍 Humble apologies, although was expecting more stick for having spent two years in that shithole to be honest...
  15. Easy! Lived just around the corner on Athol Street for two years, Boro!
